By a unanimous vote of the Southside Main Street (SoMa) Board of directors present at its
regular meeting of May 12, 2009, I, as president of the board, was asked to mister the board's
disappointment in the MacArthur Park Historic District Commission's vote at their meeting on May
11, 2009, to decline the two housing units proposed by Page Wilson for the comer of 15th and
Rock Streets.
Without considering the appearance of irregularities in the hearing process as reported by me to
the board, the board wants you to know that it supports
- economic development in the Soma residential areas;
- diverse and high -quality architectural design for this particular area in the residential
neighborhood of downtown (which matches the goals as stated in the Soma Vision Plan); and
- residential projects for this land area where the original neighborhood's historic building fabric
has been destroyed, leaving so much open land for development.
If a rehearing is scheduled for a future time, our board would like to be notified so it can attend
and officially support the project.
