SUBJECT: Permit for 401 E. 10th Street
This memo serves as administrative approval from the Little Rock Historic District
Commission (LRHDC) allowing the property owner of 401 E. 10th Street permission to obtain a
permit for rehabilitation work. I understand that the work entails exterior repairs to the wooden
siding. As the structure is located within the MacArthur Park Historic District, exterior work
comes under the LRHDC's jurisdiction; however routine maintenance is allowed within the local
ordinance historic district with administrative approval. The repairs should be performed in
conformance to the structure:
♦ the proposed work will not alter the existing footprint, outline, profile,
composition or change the configuration
♦ there will be no change to the roof slope
♦ there will be no introduction of new architectural detailing or substitute
materials
♦ the work will duplicate the existing in terms of shape, configuration, details,
profile and materials
As such, and meeting all city, building and health regulations, the application for a rehabilitation
permit should be approved. If exterior changes or improvements require a Certificate of
Appropriateness (COA), staff will be notified and appropriate actions taken. Refer to the
application instructions or the Design Review Guidelines: MacArthur Park Historic District
for necessity of obtaining a COA.
