Removal of existing mature trees and landscape material
Dear Sir,
It has been brought to the attention of this office that required landscape material at
Capitol Woods Apartment complex located at 1900 West Markham Street has been
removed or severely damaged.
Several mature trees have been removed from the site bordering the existing parking lot,
the landscape berm has been severely cut, and an additional parking pad has been added
to the site. This site is in violation of Landscape Ordinances 15-52, 15-83, 15-84 (a),
15-92, 15-95, and 15-98 respectively.
This letter will serve as a Seven Day Courtesy Notice to contact this office regarding this
matter. Compliance will require replacement of all missing trees, and all required
landscape material. You will also need to submit a Certified Landscape Plan of the
property for review to Tracy Spillman, Landscape Administrator.
Please contact Mr. Spillman at 501-371-4864 for further instructions pertaining to the
filing of the necessary documents related to this Landscape matter.

After reviewing the site at 1900 W Markham (Capitol Woods Apartments) I found evidence of seven (7) mature trees
that have been removed. Four (4) of these were located between the building and the parking area on the south portion
of the property. The remaining three (3) were adjacent to the northeast parking pad located on Gill Street. In addition a
large portion of the vegetative cover on the south slope between the building and the parking area has been eradicated.
The trees will need to be replaced at a rate of one to one and be a minimum of three (3) inches in caliper at installation.
A minimum of seven (7) three (3) inch trees will be required to be planted in the general vicinity of those that have been
removed. Also, a vegetative cover will need to be reestablished on the south slope to prevent erosion of this area.
Please have the property owner provide a scaled landscape plan showing the location, size, and species of all proposed
plant material. Landscape must be installed within the fall planting season of 2014.
