HomeMy WebLinkAbout16835 1 RESOLUTION NO. 16,835 2 3 A RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER 4 INTO A CONTRACT WITH CONTINENTAL AMERICAN INSURANCE 5 COMPANY DOING BUSINESS AS AFLAC, INC AN AMOUNT NOT TO 6 EXCEED FOUR HUNDRED FIFTY THOUSAND DOLLARS ($450,000.00), 7 TO PROVIDE ELECTIVE GROUP ACCIDENT INSURANCE TO THE 8 CITY'S EMPLOYEES AND DEPENDENTS, FOR THE PERIOD 9 BEGINNING JANUARY 1, 2026, TO DECEMBER 31, 2026; AND FOR 10 OTHER PURPOSES. 11 12 WHEREAS,the City provides certain elective insurance options for its employees and their depend- 13 ents;and, 14 WHEREAS,after a competitive selection process it was determined that the most qualified applicant 15 with the best overall rate to provide Accident Insurance options for the current City employees is 16 Continental American Insurance Company doing business as AFLAC;and, 17 WHEREAS, the Group Accident Insurance Coverage is an elective benefit the City offers to City 18 employees and the associated expense is the employee's full responsibility and is in no way subsidized by 19 the City. 20 NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF 21 LITTLE ROCK,ARKANSAS: 22 Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to enter into a contract with Continental American 23 Insurance Company doing business as AFLAC, in an amount not to exceed Four Hundred Fifty Thousand 24 Dollars($450,000.00),to provide elective group accident insurance coverage for City employees and their 25 dependents for the period of January 1,2026,to December 31,2026. 26 Section 2. Funds for this purchase are held in Accounting Unit No. 100000,Account No. 22400 27 Section 3. Severability. In the event any portion of this Resolution is declared or adjudged to be 28 invalid or unconstitutional, such declaration or adjudication shall not affect the remaining portions of this 29 Resolution,which shall remain in full force and effect as if the portion so declared or adjudged invalid or 30 unconstitutional was not originally a part of this Resolution. 31 Section 4. Repealer.
