HISTORIC DISTRICT COMMISSION
MEMORANDUM
TO: Charles Toland, Permits Administrator LB(.r
FROM: V. Anne Guthrie, Historic Preservation Administrator
DATE: 2 November 2000
SUBJECT: Permit for 1002 Cumberland and 215-17-19 E. 10th
This memo serves as administrative approval from the Little Rock Historic District
Commission (LRHDC) allowing the contractor for or the property owner of 1002 Cumberland
and 215-17-19 E. 10th permission to obtain a permit for general repair work, window repair and
painting. Since the structures are located within the MacArthur Park Historic District, exterior
work comes under the LRHDC's jurisdiction. Routine maintenance is allowed within the local
ordinance historic district with an administratively approved Certificate of Appropriateness
(COA). The repairs should be performed in conformance to the structures:
♦ the proposed work will not alter the existing footprint, outline, profile,
composition or change the configuration
♦ there will be no change to the roof slope and no introduction of new
architectural detailing or materials
♦ the work will duplicate the existing in terms of shape, configuration, details,
profile and materials
As such, and meeting all city, building and health regulations, the application for a building
permit should be approved. If exterior changes or improvements we made that require a COA,
staff will be notified and appropriate actions taken for a public hearing. Refer to the application
instructions or the Design Review Guidelines: MacArthur Park Historic District for necessity
of obtaining a COA.
