HomeMy WebLinkAboutGardens Q&A 062425THE GARDENS QUESTIONS & ANSWERS Who Knows someone with anxiety, depression, bipolar disease, autism, schizophrenia, or any other behavioral health history? Why does society marginalize individuals with these struggles? Why does our society prefer to admit that diabetes, cancer, or heart disease run in our family history than admit struggles with brain disease exists? Who lives in our community & how does The Gardens accept tenants/referrals? Anyone (friends, family or ourselves) can live at The Gardens if they meet the application requirements. Anyone can contact us at www.GardensAr.com. Hospital discharge planners can contact us and so can insurance case managers. Our admission screening is similar to a tenant applying for residency (just like any of us would do). We run thorough background checks on each potential client. We are extremely selective & have weekly conference calls to vet all applicants. We meet potential clients prior to admission. No one on the sexual registry is accepted. We do not allow any drugs or alcohol on the property & clients are subject to drug screening if use is suspected. We do not accept clients with current substance abuse issues. We accept approximately 1 out of every 5 applicants. Why did Arkansas decide to invest resources in communities like The Gardens? -Local hospitals are full with people who do not require acute care but they access all of their healthcare needs via emergency rooms. Ex-has anyone been to an Emergency department? The wait is usually long due to non emergencies clogging up and overwhelming the system. Prevention and education of what is a true emergency, focus on disease prevention and illness resolution has never been the focus, but now we know if people are given choices they can and will choose better. Maya Angelou wrote “we did then what we knew then, when we knew better we did better” Why are we GOOD NEIGHBORS & what are the BENEFITS of The Gardens becoming an anchor in your community? -We encourage mentors & volunteers to join us for activities. -We could help monitor & improve the condition of our beautiful lake & wooded area. -We are committed to green space & believe being outdoors heals the soul. We will clean up overgrown areas that impact adjacent properties. Our property would be professionally groomed. -We plant a garden in each of our communities & would also like to assist with the existing community garden if invited to join. -We would like to participate in community park beautification. -We would like to join the community POA’s. We would like to be a street captain once we are trained. We are at the entrance of the community and could provide a good deterrent to unnecessary traffic since we have camera’s on the property. -The Gardens could be used for community events like POA meetings, Trunk or Treat, 4th of July Celebrations, etc. -We bring a significant tax base to the area & that adds value to the neighborhood -We are locally owned and operated. This property will sell if not us to someone. -We do not add a traffic burden to the community. Only 16 tenants live at The Gardens. We could be an ally for the upcoming meeting on June 21st regarding road improvements. -Tenants work, go to college, go to church, attend community events, and contribute to the community just like all of us. -Safety protocols are in place. We have cameras & can view the entrance to Tall Timber Blvd. We could install a fence but prefer to be part of the community. We are not an institution. We are not a treatment facility for substance abuse. We are a Home & Community Based Support System. Will people be roaming the streets of the neighborhood? -The short answer is no. We have a van for transportation of all clients. Where do our clients move when they leave? We coordinate with their case manager and families to assist them with apartments, houses or another therapeutic community. They are not discharged to the streets. -there is a hotbed of homelessness on Shackelford Road where many unsheltered people live and we will not and do not contribute to this huge problem.
