HomeMy WebLinkAbout16809 1 RESOLUTION NO. 16,809 2 3 A RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR OR CITY MANAGER 4 TO ENTER INTO A PUBLIC SERVICE AGREEMENT WITH THE 5 UNITED STATES CAPITOL POLICE TO PROVIDE SUPPORT FOR 6 THEIR PROTECTION OF CONGRESSIONAL EVENTS AND PROTEC- 7 TIVE OPERATIONS IN THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK;AND FOR OTHER 8 PURPOSES. 9 10 WHEREAS, Arkansas law authorizes one or more public agencies to contract with any one or more 11 other public agencies to perform any governmental service,activity,or undertaking which each of the public 12 agencies entering into the contract is authorized by law to perform alone, provided that the contract shall 13 be authorized by the governing body of each party to the contract; and 14 WHEREAS,the United States Capitol Police("USCP")wishes to partner with the City of Little Rock 15 to provide support and enhancements for the USCP's protection mission for Congressional events and 16 USCP protective operations within the Little Rock Police Department's jurisdiction; and 17 WHEREAS, the USCP will reimburse the City of Little Rock for expenses for such support. 18 WHEREAS, Cammack Village will pay the City of Little Rock for this service; 19 NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY 20 OF LITTLE ROCK,ARKANSAS: 21 Section 1. Pursuant to the authority set forth in Ark.Code Ann. §25-20-108,the Mayor or City Man- 22 ager is authorized to execute a public service agreement, in a form approved by the Little Rock City Attor- 23 ney, in order for the Little Rock Police Department to provide support services to the United States Capitol 24 Police. 25 Section 2. The City of Little Rock shall be reimbursed for any expenses it incurs while providing this 26 support pursuant to the proposed interlocal agreement attached hereto as Exhibit A. 27 Section 3. Severability. In the event any title, section, paragraph, item, sentence, clause, phrase, or 28 word of this resolution is declared or adjudged to be invalid or unconstitutional, such declaration or adju- 29 dication shall not affect the remaining portions of the resolution which shall remain in full force and effect 30 as if the portion so declared or adjudged invalid or unconstitutional were not originally a part of the reso- 31 lution. 32 Section 4. Repealer. All laws,ordinances,resolutions,or parts of the same,that are inconsistent with 33 the provisions of this resolution,are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency.
