Any new site development must comply with the City's minimal landscape and buffer ordinance
requirements and the PD-O approved by the Planning Commission (file number, Z-8696).
2. Signage is to be reviewed and permitted separately.
Landscape plan is not complete. Permit cannot be released until landscape requirements are
met. Additional and complete review will be made upon the receiving landscape plan, and
survey. Submit three (3) full size copies of the landscape plan and one (1) full size copy of the
survey for review and approval.
Landscape requirements could include and may not be limited to the following.
Screening requirements will need to be met for any vehicular use areas adjacent to the street
right of way or any adjacent properties of a more restrictive use. Screening requirements will
need to be met for the parking areas adjacent to the West 40th Street right-of-way. Provide
screening shrubs with an average linear spacing of not less than three (3) feet on center and
trees with an average linear spacing of thirty (30) feet on center within the required landscape
area
For any site, trees from two (2) different genuses are required. At least twenty-five (25) percent
of the trees on the site outside of those required for screening purposes are to be of evergreen
variety.

percent of the shrubs on the site outside of those required for screening purposes are to be of
evergreen variety.
Provide plant material schedule / legend and size specifications. In order to receive credit trees
must be two (2) inches in caliper and shrubs must be eighteen (18) inches in height at
installation.
Building landscape areas shall be provided at the rate equivalent to planter strip three (3) feet
wide along the vehicular use area. One (1) tree and four (4) shrubs shall be planted in the
building landscape areas for each forty (40) linear feet of vehicular use area abutting the
building.
Interior landscape areas shall comprise at least eight (8) percent of any vehicular use area
containing twelve (12) or more parking spaces. Trees shall be included in the interior landscape
areas at the rate of one (1) tree for every twelve (12) parking spaces.
An irrigation system shall be required for developments of one (1) acre or larger.
If irrigation is not provided for developments of less than one (1) acre a there shall be a water
source within seventy-five (75) feet of the plants to be irrigated.
4. Existing mature trees and shrubs can be used to meet landscape requirements if size and
species noted on the landscape plan.
5. All existing landscape areas and mature vegetation to remain shall be protected as per City of
Little Rock Landscape Ordinance (Sec. 15-100). Any trees or vegetation located in close
proximity to construction shall have the area within the dripline fenced and protected from
development activities. Any existing landscape or irrigation disturbed by construction shall be
repaired or replaced before completion and final acceptance of the project.
All landscape areas shall be protected as per City of Little Rock Landscape Ordinance (Sec. 15-
100). Wheel stops, and/or concrete curb and gutter will be required between vehicular use
areas and any turf or planting area.
All ground or roof mounted mechanical systems shall be screened from abutting properties and
streets. Any trash receptacles or pickup shall be oriented away from a primary street side of the
property and screened from the public right-of-way. Screen shall exceed the height of the
dumpster or trash containment areas by at least two (2) feet not to exceed eight (8) feet total
height.
8. The City Beautiful Commission recommends preserving as many existing trees as feasible on this
site. Credit toward fulfilling Landscape Ordinance requirements can be given when preserving
trees of six (6) inch caliper or larger.
