Subject: RE: Little Rock (Stagecoach) - Landscape Plan
Chelsea,
The design looks good with the exception of the removal of the plants north of the Stagecoach Road entrance. I may
have misunderstood when we spoke on the phone and allowed these to be removed. I have noted this and the other
items below that will need to be addressed before I can release for permit.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks

1. Vitex will need to be specified as a tree with a minimum 2" caliper. You may want to change this to a different
plant if you're concerned 2" caliper plants of this specie will not be available. However, as this plant location is
shown on the plans a tree will need to be specified to meet the perimeter requirements. Other plant
suggestions include Kwanzan Cherry, Tree Form Foster Holly, Redbud
2. The perimeter plantings north of the Stagecoach are required to meet the ordinance requirements and will need
to be added back.
Sec. 15-96. - Perimeter planting strips. A perimeter planting strip is required along any side of a vehicular use
area that abuts adjoining property. Trees shall be planted with an average linear spacing of not less than thirty
(30) feet within the required landscape area. Three (3) shrubs or vines for every thirty (30) linear feet shall be
planted in the perimeter planting strip.
3. All shrub material must be eighteen (18) inches in height at installation to receive credit. Provide shrub
specification or note stating shrub materials will be eighteen (18) inches in height at installation.
4. The screening plants (Yaupon Holly) next to the tree preservation area will need to be specified 2" minimum
caliper and full to the ground. In addition add the plant symbol in to the legend or key the plants.
Note: A plant suggestion that could better suit this screening purpose may be Emerald Green Arborvitae, spaced
5'-0" o.c. specified at 2" caliper and 5'-6' Height at installation. (plants are to be a minimum of 6' ht. at the end
of one year)
5. Include the note that "an automatic irrigation system shall be provided for all new landscape areas and provide
100% full coverage". Or provide the overall landscape irrigation sheet.

Subject: Little Rock (Stagecoach) - Landscape Plan
Hi Tracy,
Attached to this email is a PDF of the Little Rock (Stagecoach) site that you discussed with Tom Burry and I on the phone
earlier today. On this current plan the Crape Myrtles were switched with Vitex agnus-castus and the arrangement of the
plantings that were in the perimeter buffer to the east side were changed to allow for more visibility to the building. The
perimeter planting to the north side of the Stagecoach entryway was removed and most of the plantings were relocated
to the perimeter plantings to the north and east sides of the property. A screen of Yaupon Holly's has been added on the
back of the property against the tree preservation area. Also, one of the trees near the sign to the south side of the site
was moved so that there would be more visibility to the sign from the street. All notes that were addressed in the
comments were added to the landscape plan.
Just to clarify are the Vitex considered to be trees or shrubs for the City of Little Rock? Also, would the Yaupon Holly's
used in the screen be considered to be counted toward the number of trees required in the perimeter planting?
If you have any comments or questions about the landscape plan you can direct them to either Tom Burry or myself.
Thanks!

Site plan must comply with the City's minimal landscape and buffer ordinance requirements.
Signage is to be reviewed and permitted separately.
The City of Little Rock will no longer accept crape myrtles to meet any tree requirements.
Specify another species of tree to meet the perimeter requirements between the vehicular use
area and the neighboring east property.
4. Screening is required adjacent to all residentially zoned properties. Note the type of opaque
screening along the northwest property line adjacent to the MF6 zoned property. Or extend the
six (6) foot wood privacy fence adjacent to the southeast R2 zoned property along the entire
length of the west property line.
Note on the plan that the six (6) foot wood privacy fence will be constructed with the face
directed outward.
5. All shrub material must be eighteen (18) inches in height at installation to receive credit.
Provide shrub specification or note stating shrub materials must be eighteen (18) inches in
height at installation.
6. Irrigation is required for all sites exceeding one (1) acre. Provide note on the landscape plan
stating "an automatic irrigation system shall be provided for all new landscape areas and
provide 100% full coverage".
7. Return three (3) copies of the revised landscape plan sheet 13 of 21 to the Plans Development
Administrator before releasing for permit.
8. The City Beautiful Commission recommends preserving as many existing trees as feasible on this
site. Credit toward fulfilling Landscape Ordinance requirements can be given when preserving
trees of six (6) inch caliper or larger.
