Mark,
Looks like you have got the trees covered however, I will still need a few more shrubs between the right-of-way and the
parking. These need to be placed 3'-0" o.c. to provide a continuous screen for the parking area. It appears that there is
approximately 320 linear feet of vehicular use area that abuts the right-of-way. This would require a minimum of 107
shrubs; your plan shows only 49 shrubs in this area.
Also, after my first review I neglected to mention that for any site shrubs from two (2) different genuses are required. If
you can change a portion of your shrubs to another species I believe you will have met all of the minimums. I would
suggest maybe adding a plant such as Encore azalea, Knockout Roses or Sea Green Juniper. However, since Knockout
Roses are deciduous these can only be used on the west side only; screening shrubs adjacent to the right-of-way are
required to be evergreen.
Thanks,
Tracy

Tracy,
Get a look at this, I don't remember how old the one I sent you was.
I planted bushes on the west side anyhow, I think they want all this to be nice.
Thanks, Mark

Looks good Mark,
I think you're in the ball park and I believe I can get manipulate the placement requirements to bring it closer to
compliance. However, there are a few suggestions that I have outlined below that will help.
Building Landscape
For the new parking on the west side of the building there needs to be 675 sq ft of planter area to meet the
building landscape requirements. I am unable to scale your drawing but it looks like the island located at the
approximate center on the west side of the building and the southwest corner of the building would meet or
exceed the required building square footage.
There is an approximate 225 linear feet of building adjacent to the new parking this will require 6 trees and 23
shrubs. If you placed shrub material in the islands and 1 additional tree at the north end of the new parking. This
should cover everything. I would also suggest planting a shrub the would be hardy and remain low, such as
dwarf yaupon holly or Andorra juniper.
Perimeter landscape
■ No landscape required at the west. Industrial sites adjacent to other industrial sites are not required to provide
perimeter planting strips outside of the front yard setback.
Parkin
■ 62 parking spaces will require 5 trees
• I have estimated approximately 18,000 sq. feet of new parking (not counting the existing paving) this will require
1,440 sq ft of green space (8%) in or in close proximity of the parking area.
You may be a little short since I'm counting the new western islands as building landscape. Is there a possibility
of turning the dead area on the southeast corner of the building into landscape?
Front Yard 1 Street perimeter
Approximately 320 linear ft. 11 trees and 107 shrubs will be required (1 tree for every 30 linear feet and 1
screening shrub for every 3 linear feet)
Plant Material
The City of Little Rock will know longer accept crape myrtle to count as a tree. These can be planted but no
credit towards meeting the landscape requirements can be given. Since your close on the tree quantities you
will need you might want to substitute these for another flowering tree such as Chaste Tree (Vitex agnus-
castus). I started to see this used in place of crape myrtles here in Little Rock.
Let me know if you have any questions or comments.
Thanks,
Tracy

1. Site plan must comply with the City's minimal landscape and buffer ordinance requirements.
2. Signage is to be reviewed and permitted separately.
3. Additional shrubs will be required between the new paved parking area and the Roosevelt Road
right-of-way. There is approximately three hundred and twenty (320) linear feet of vehicular use
area that abuts the right-of-way. This would require a minimum of one hundred (107) shrubs.
Provide fifty-five additional shrubs and place shrubs at 3'0" on center to provide a continuous
screen of the vehicular use area.
4. For any site shrubs from two (2) different genuses are required. Change a portion of the
proposed shrubs to a different plant species or provide additional shrub material that is
different form the proposed Compacta Holly.
5. Return three (3) copies of the revised landscape plan sheet C3.00 and one (1) copy of the survey
to the Plans Development Administrator before releasing for permit.
6. The City Beautiful Commission recommends preserving as many existing trees as feasible on this
site. Credit toward fulfilling Landscape Ordinance requirements can be given when preserving
trees of six (6) inch caliper or larger.
