Site plan or any new site development must comply with the City's minimal landscape / buffer
ordinance requirements and the requirements of the POD approved by the Planning
Commission file # Z-9480. The POD indicates that Phase 1 of the project will include new parking
and remodeling of the existing structure. Building permit cannot be approved until site and
landscape plans are submitted for review.
2. Signage is to be reviewed and permitted separately.
Additional and complete review will be made upon the receiving landscape plan specifying the
proposed plant materials, sizes, and the proposed planting areas a method of irrigation.
4. Landscape requirements could include and may not be limited to the following.
Screening requirements will need to be met for any vehicular use areas adjacent to the
street right of way or any adjacent properties of a more restrictive use. Screening
requirements will need to be met for the parking areas adjacent to the S Rodney
Parham Rd right-of-way. Provide screening shrubs with an average linear spacing of not
less than three (3) feet on center within the required landscape area.
A perimeter planting strip is required adjacent to the right-of-way of any street. One (1)
tree and three (3) shrubs or vines shall be planted for every thirty (30) linear feet.
Additional plantings will be required west of the entry drive.
A perimeter planting strip is required along any side of a vehicular use area that abuts
adjoining property. This planting strip shall be a minimum of nine (9) feet in width. One
(1) tree and three (3) shrubs or vines shall be planted for every thirty (30) linear feet of
perimeter planting strip. The required plant materials on the south and east perimeter
planting strips are deficient. The east planting strip width is deficient.
For any site, trees from two (2) different genuses are required. At least twenty-five (25)
percent of the trees on the site outside of those required for screening purposes are to
be of evergreen variety.

(25) percent of the shrubs on the site outside of those required for screening purposes
are to be of evergreen variety.
• Provide plant material schedule / legend and size specifications. In order to receive
credit trees must be two (2) inches in caliper and shrubs must be eighteen (18) inches in
height at installation.
• Building landscape areas shall be provided at the rate equivalent to planter strip three
(3) feet wide along the vehicular use area. One (1) tree and four (4) shrubs shall be
planted in the building landscape areas for each forty (40) linear feet of vehicular use
area abutting the building.
■ Interior landscape areas shall comprise at least eight (8) percent of any vehicular use
area containing twelve (12) or more parking spaces. Trees shall be included in the
interior landscape areas at the rate of one (1) tree for every twelve (12) parking spaces.
■ Irrigation is required for all sites exceeding one (1) acre. Note on the landscape plan "An
automatic irrigation system shall be provided for all new landscape areas and provide
100% full coverage."
■ The development of two (2) acres or more requires the landscape plan to be stamped
with the seal of a registered landscape architect.
All landscape areas shall be protected as per City of Little Rock Landscape Ordinance (Sec. 15-
100). Wheel stops, and/or concrete curb and gutter will be required between vehicular use
areas and any turf or planting area.
6. All ground or roof mounted mechanical systems shall be screened from abutting properties and
streets. Any trash receptacles or pickup shall be oriented away from a primary street side of the
property and screened from the public right-of-way. Screen shall exceed the height of the
dumpster or trash containment areas by at least two (2) feet not to exceed eight (8) feet total
height.
7. The City Beautiful Commission recommends preserving as many existing trees as feasible on this
site. Credit toward fulfilling Landscape Ordinance requirements can be given when preserving
trees of six (6) inch caliper or larger.
