3 A RESOLUTION TO ADOPT AND ESTABLISH THE 2025
4 SUSTAINABILITY ACTION PLAN;AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.

6 WHEREAS,the City of Little Rock,Arkansas, Sustainability Commission("LRSC")was established
7 in 2008 as a Mayoral-appointed task force for the purpose of studying sustainability and providing policy
8 and program advice to the governing body of the city,and
9 WHEREAS,the LR Board of Directors approved Little Rock,Ark.,Ordinance No.21,632(September
10 18, 2018),to transition the LRSC from a Mayoral task force to an official City commission,and
11 WHEREAS,the stated purpose of the LRSC is to help research and develop strategies and innovations
12 to promote environmental and economic health and prosperity within the city without creating unnecessary
13 competition between various aspects of development,and
14 WHEREAS,the types of programs should include but not be limited to increasing energy efficiency
15 in buildings;promoting cleaner transportation and expanding active transportation options;reducing waste,
16 increasing recycling, and improving waste diversion options in city operations and city-wide; preserving
17 and restoring natural habitats in the city and promoting sustainable land-use and management;and fostering
18 environmental awareness, education,and engagement throughout the city;and
19 WHEREAS,the LRSC Commission has submitted a 2025 Sustainability Action Plan to the City Board
20 of Directors, after extensive research and discussion, for formal adoption;
21 NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY
22 OF LITTLE ROCK,ARKANSAS:
23 Section 1: The 2025 Sustainability Action Plan, as recommended by the LRSC, is adopted.
24 Section 2. Annual Report. Beginning in 2025,the LRSC shall appear in person and present an annual
25 report to the Board of Directors as to its progress in carrying out the 2025 Sustainability Action Plan, and,
26 at such presentation, shall provide any recommended updates or modifications recommended for the plan.
27 Section 3. Severability. In the event any title, section, paragraph, item, sentence, clause, phrase, or
28 word of this resolution is declared or adjudged to be invalid or unconstitutional, such declaration or
29 adjudication shall not affect the remaining portions of the resolution, which shall remain in full force and
30 effect as if the portion so declared or adjudged invalid or unconstitutional were not originally a part of the
31 resolution.
32 Section 4. Repealer. All laws, ordinances,resolutions, or parts of the same,that are inconsistent with
33 the provisions of this resolution,are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency.
