1. Any new site development must comply with the City's minimal landscape and buffer ordinance
requirements and the requirements of the Highway 10 Scenic Corridor Overlay District.
2. Signage is to be reviewed and permitted separately.
Trees shall be included in the interior landscape areas at the rate of one (1) tree for every twelve
(12) parking spaces. There are forty-nine (49) new parking spaces. A minimum of four new trees
are to be distributed evenly throughout the parking area.
Building landscape areas shall be provided between the vehicular use area used for public
parking and the general vicinity of the building. These landscape areas shall be provided at the
rate equivalent to planter strip three (3) feet wide along the vehicular use area. One (1) tree and
four (4) shrubs shall be planted in the building landscape areas for each forty (40) linear feet of
vehicular use area abutting the building. There is approximately 280 linear feet of new building
adjacent to the public vehicular use area. A minimum of seven (7) trees and twenty-eight (28)
trees will be required in close proximity to the building.
A minimum of eleven (11) new trees and twenty-eight (28) new shrubs will be required for the
new development.
4. Crape Myrtles can be used in the landscape but will no longer be accepted by the City of Little
Rock to meet any tree requirements. Change species to receive credit or provide additional
trees to meet the minimum requirements.
5. For any site, trees from two (2) different genuses are required. At least twenty-five (25) percent
of the trees on the site outside of those required for screening purposes are to be of evergreen
variety.
Provide a minimum of two (2) separate tree species. Provide a minimum of one (1) evergreen
species.
Any existing landscape areas and mature vegetation to remain shall be protected as per City of
Little Rock Landscape Ordinance (Sec. 15-100). Any trees or vegetation located in close
proximity to construction shall have the area within the dripline fenced and protected from
development activities. Any existing landscape or irrigation disturbed by construction shall be
repaired or replaced before completion and final acceptance of the project.
7. All ground or roof mounted mechanical systems shall be screened from abutting properties and
streets. (Sec. 15-95. - Screening requirements, Sec. 36-389. - Development) Any trash
receptacles or pickup shall be oriented away from a primary street side of the property and
screened from the public right-of-way. Screen shall exceed the height of the dumpster or trash
containment areas by at least two (2) feet not to exceed eight (8) feet total height.
The City Beautiful Commission recommends preserving as many existing trees as feasible on this
site. Credit toward fulfilling Landscape Ordinance requirements can be given when preserving
trees of six (6) inch caliper or larger.
