HomeMy WebLinkAbout16775 1 RESOLUTION NO. 16,775 2 3 A RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER 4 INTO A CONTRACT BETWEEN THE LITTLE ROCK POLICE 5 DEPARTMENT AND THE LITTLE ROCK SCHOOL DISTRICT, TO 6 RENEW THE ANNUAL SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICER PROGRAM 7 AGREEMENT FOR THE 2025-2026 SCHOOL YEAR BEGINNING JULY 1, 8 2025,RUNNING THROUGH JUNE 1,2026;AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. 9 10 WHEREAS,the City and the Little Rock School District("LRSD")have partnered together since 1998 11 to promote responsible,positive behavior among students of the district and reduce juvenile crime;and 12 WHEREAS, in order to accomplish the objectives outlined above,the Little Rock Police Department 13 ("LRPD")and LRSD seek to continue working together through the School Resource Officer Program,to 14 ensure the controlled interaction of LRPD Officers with LRSD students and staff;and, 15 WHEREAS,LRPD seeks to renew the annual school resource officer program agreement with LRSD, 16 to assign LRPD Police Officers as School Resource Officers for the 2025-2026 School year beginning July 17 1,2025,running through June 1,2026;and, 18 WHEREAS, the annual renewal of this agreement will provide for up to two(2)LRPD Supervisors 19 and twenty-two(22)LRPD officers with LRSD posting assignments;and 20 WHEREAS, LRSD will reimburse the City for fifty (50) percent of the LRPD Supervisors' and 21 Officers'salaries,benefits,overtime,and compensatory time for those with LRSD School Resource Officer 22 assignments while school is in session. 23 NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY 24 OF LITTLE ROCK,ARKANSAS; 25 Section 1.The City Manager is authorized to enter into a contract on behalf of the Little Rock Police 26 Department, to renew the annual School Resource Officer Program Agreement for the 2025-2026 school 27 year School year beginning July 1,2025 running through June 1,2026. 28 Section 2.Absent termination by the City or LRSD,this Agreement may be renewed annually and shall 29 require joint review of terms and conditions of the Agreement prior to the renewal date with communication 30 between the parties confirming that no substantial changes have occurred or are needed. 31 Section 3. Severability. In the event any title, section, paragraph, item, sentence, clause, phrase, or 32 word of this resolution is declared or adjudged to be invalid or unconstitutional, such declaration or 33 adjudication shall not affect the remaining portions of the resolution which shall remain in full force and [Page 1 of 21 1 effect as if the portion so declared or adjudged invalid or unconstitutional were not originally a part of the 2 resolution. 3 Section 4.Repealer.
