Overall, part of the concept is to update the look and feel of the Park, along with the image as a place for outdoor fun and activities. Development of the Front Lawn serves as an enhancement to the Main Entry of the park visually, as well as, functionally. Remodeling of the fountain and development of the circular Main Plaza with trees, shrubs and lighting will create a focal point for the Front Lawn as you drive or walk through the area with the MacArthur Museum as a backdrop. The Crescent Drive marks a southern limit to this initial development with Ninth Street as a northern limit. The Entry Plazas off these two streets signal main access points into the Main Plaza and the Front Lawn. The Crescent Drive is a one way drive to the east and is proposed to be a one way drive to the west. This will ease the vehicular flow into the park allowing new control over pedestrian and material drop off points for the museum and the Arkansas Arts Center. The drop off point in front of the museum will be raised 6 inches to curb height and will be funneled down with bollards to one lane. This will allow for vehicles to stop traffic and allow for a controlled pick up and drop off point for passengers. Changing the direction of the Crescent Drive will also allow for new and better locations of slgnage for the Park, as well as, main features of MacArthur Park. Along Ninth Street just east of the North Entry Plaza would be a Site Sign naming "MacArthur Park". See the attached Site Location Map of MacArthur Park and a drawing of the Site Sign. The Site Sign Is vertical in shape approximately 24 feet tall and has a concrete footing and concealed steel structure. The main stem is bronze colored with an attached red banner labeled .. MacArthur PARK ...". The sign would be fabricated of metal with baked on finish. The lettering would be applied to the red banner. Lighting for the sign would be ground mounted. This sign represents a main final element to complete this initial phase of the Front Lawn CC: file PRKSIMACARTHU R_01.LET.l70C Cover letter from City of Little Rock L i r r PARKS AND RECREATION 500 West Markham Street, Room 108 - Little Rock, Arkansas 7220 Phone: 501-371-4770 - Fax 501-371-6832 Parks & Recreation COVER LETTER DEPARTMENT OF PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT 723 West Markham Street Little Rock, Arkansas 72201-1334 August 6, 2010 Site Signage for Remodeling of MacArthur Park — Front Lawn Development This project involves developing the Front Lawn along the design developed in the MacArthur Park Master Plan - January 2009.
