3 AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE LITTLE ROCK CITY CODE,
4 REVISED 1988 ("CITY CODE"),CHAPTER 8,ARTICLE I, SECTION 8-2,
5 §(a)(2) AND §(a)(3) (1988) OF THE BUILDING CODE TO PROVIDE
6 CLARITY AND ACCURACY TO THE CODE; DECLARING AN
7 EMERGENCY;AND,FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
8 WHEREAS, the Board of Directors of the City of Little Rock (the "City") passed Little Rock,Ark.
9 Ordinance("LRO")No.22,277(July 11,2023)to adopt the 2021 Arkansas Fire Prevention Code,Volume
10 II(Building),and LRO No.22,278(July 11,2023)to adopt Volume III(Residential),along with applicable
11 revisions and appendices;and,
12 WHEREAS,Volume II(Building)and Volume III(Residential)of the 2021 Arkansas Fire Prevention
13 Code is based on the 2021 International Building Code;and,
14 WHEREAS, it is necessary to update two (2) clerical references to correctly identify the applicable
15 International Code on which Volume II(Building)and Volume III(Residential)are based;and,
16 WHEREAS,accuracy in referenced codes ensures proper code enforcement and compliance.
17 NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY
18 OF LITTLE ROCK,ARKANSAS:

21 Section 1. AMENDMENT TO BUILDING CODE CHAPTER 8,ARTICLE I, SECTION 8-2
22 §(a)(2):
23 (a)(2)The 2021 Arkansas Fire Prevention Code,Volume II(Building)with the most current Arkansas
24 Amendments and 2021 Revisions and Appendices (C), (E) and (0) based on the 2021 International Fire
25 Code.
26 Section(aX2)of the City's adopted building code is hereby amended to read as follows:
27 (a)(2) The 2021 Arkansas Fire Prevention Code, Volume if (Building), with the most current
28 Arkansas Amendments and 2021 Revisions and Appendices (C), (E), and (0), based on the 2021
29 International Building Code.

1 (a)(3) The 2021 Arkansas Fire Prevention Code, Volume III (Residential) with the most current
2 Arkansas Amendments and 2021 Revisions and Appendices (AQ) based on the 2021 International Fire
3 Code.
4 Section(a)(3)of the City's adopted building code is hereby amended to read as follows:
5 (a)(3)The 2021 Arkansas Fire Prevention Code,Volume III (Residential) with the most current
6 Arkansas Amendments and 2021 Revisions and Appendices (AO) based on the 2021 International
7 Residential Code.
8 Section 3. A copy of the 2021 Arkansas Fire Prevention Code, Volume II (Building) and Volume III
9 (Residential) is maintained in the Office of the City Clerk.
10 Section 4. The provisions of this City Code, so far as they are the same as ordinances existing
11 at the time of adoption of this City Code, shall be considered as a continuation thereof and not as
12 new enactments.
13 Section 5. Severability. In the event any title, section, paragraph, item, sentence, clause, phrase, or
14 word of this ordinance is declared or adjudged to be invalid or unconstitutional, such declaration or
15 adjudication shall not affect the remaining portions of the ordinance which shall remain in full force and
16 effect as if the portion so declared or adjudged invalid or unconstitutional was not originally a part of the
17 ordinance.
18 Section 6. Repealed All laws,ordinances,resolutions,or parts of the same that are inconsistent with
19 the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency.
20 Section 7.Emergency The Board of Directors deems that the amendment to the Little Rock City Code
21 is necessary to protect the public health, safety, and welfare. Therefore, an emergency is declared to exist.
22 This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage.
