Tony and I have talked and we do not think it is necessary to apply for a COA to move the monument to the location shown on the graphic provided to us. We also have a copy of the Truman's letter of support in the file. Please move the monument as your schedule permits. IF the location changes per the Conway Schulte Plan, please let us know. thanks. Thanks dodd marker relocation.doc June 24, 2008 Mr. Brian Minyard Planning and Development Department City Of Little Rock 723 W. Markham Little Rock, AR 72201 Dear Mr. Minyatd: The Parks Department endorses the effort to relocate the David O. Dodd memorial maker from its current location on the parking lot of the William H. Bowen School of Law to a new location in MacArthur Park. This historical marker is not site -specific, having been relocated at least once previously. In its current location it is not accessible not is it visible to the public. My staff has worked with Stephan McAteer, Director of the MacArthur Museum of Arkansas Military History, to identify an appropriate location for the marker. We are in agreement that the marker should be located immediately south of the Arsenal Building (which houses the military history museum) around the old parade grounds. Parks staff will continue to work with museum staff and interested parties to move the marker in the months ahead. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Sincerely, Truman Tolefree, Director Little Rock Parks and Recreation Department Minyard, Brian From: Mcateer, Steve Sent: Tuesday, June 17, 2008 10:45 AM To: Minyard, Brian Subject: RE: Dodd marker Brian, Have you gotten the letter from Truman and the map from Mark on the Dodd marker? Quick question. We have finally gained approval of all parties to the relocation of the David O. Dodd marker from the Law School parking lot to a more accessible and visible place in the park. I met this morning with Truman Tolefree and Mark Webre and we would like to locate it behind the museum along the perimeter of the parade ground. Since the marker is not site -specific, do we need to bring this before the Historic District Commission for approval?
