HomeMy WebLinkAbout22626 1 ORDINANCE NO. 22,626 2 3 AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE DEMOLITION OF TEN (10) 4 RESIDENTIAL STRUCTURES SEVERELY DILAPIDATED, CAUSING A 5 LIFE SAFETY HAZARD AND NEGATIVE ENVIRONMENTAL 6 IMPACTS; TO APPROPRIATE FUNDS TO PAY FOR SUCH 7 DEMOLITION; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. 8 9 WHEREAS, the City of Little Rock's Department of Housing and Neighborhood Programs has 10 determined ten(10)structures to be in severely dilapidated,deteriorated and/or in burned condition causing 11 a life safety hazard; and, 12 WHEREAS,the ten(10)structures are causing a negative environmental impact on the 13 residential neighborhoods in which they are located and have fire damage or have deteriorated to a level 14 of being unsafe and dangerous;and, 15 WHEREAS,notices were mailed to the owner(s) in accordance with Arkansas state law; and, 16 WHEREAS,the owner(s)has/have failed to bring the ten(10)structures in compliance and have been 17 abandoned by the owner(s)or the owner(s)has/have requested the city to demolish them; and, 18 WHEREAS, the Department of Housing and Neighborhood Programs received an estimate in the 19 amount of Ninety-Five Thousand Dollars($95,000.00)to demolish and remove these structures;and, 20 WHEREAS, eight (8) of the structures have liens, please see Exhibit A attached for amounts and 21 property descriptions; and, 22 WHEREAS,the funding for this project will come from Demolition Account Number 108359. 23 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY 24 OF LITTLE ROCK,ARKANSAS; 25 Section 1. The Board of Directors hereby authorizes the abandonment and demolition of the ten (10) 26 structures identified in Exhibit A for a total amount not to exceed Ninety-Five Thousand Dollars 27 ($95,000.00) 28 Section 2. Funds for this program are available from Demolition Account Number 108359. 29 Section 3. Severability. In the event any title, section, paragraph, item, sentence, clause, phrase, or 30 word of this resolution is declared or adjudged to be invalid or unconstitutional, such declaration or 31 adjudication shall not affect the remaining portions of the resolution which shall remain in full force and 32 effect as if the portion so declared or adjudged invalid or unconstitutional were not originally a part of the 33 resolution.
