Dear Ms. Guthrie,
This letter is in response to our conversations to let you and the Little Rock Historic
Commision officially know that my wife, Karol, and I are applying for a permit to enclose
an existing side porch on our residence at 500 East Ninth Street. The green signs have been
posted in the windows so all who pass by are notified. In regard to the notification
process of the adjacent property owners, Karol and I own all of the property within 150 feet
of the structure. This being the case, I presume notification is not necessary.
You should be receiving copies of the plans for this enclosure project from
John Jamard, who is helping us with the details on this project.
Enclosed, please find pictures to help you see how the porch appears now. Also note
that the concrete still has the remains of the lead anchors that were used, and the wood above
is still intact where the removable glass and screen panels were positioned when the porch was
originally enclosed around 1910. Our design will not have removable glass or screen panels.
Thank you for your help in this process. If you or any of the commisioners have any
further questions or would like to see the porch in person, I will be happy to try and accomodate
your wishes.
