CONSTRUCTION NOTES
1.. .Approvals: Landscape Architect shall approve plant materials for conformance to specifications placement and
quantities prior to planting.
2. Plant quality and installation shalt be in accordance with latest standards set forth by the American Nurseryman's
Association. Trees and shrubs indicated in the plan shall be of the same variety when optional multiple varieties are
indicated unless approved by Ownedi-andscape Architect.
3. Quantities: The contractor is responsible for verifying site measurements and plant/construction material quantities prior
to construction. In theevent of conflict, written numerals shall apply over graphic depictions and on site measurements
shall apply over all others. Contour data estimated. '
4. Topsoil: Provide imported topsoil free of weeds and debris for back filling beds and installing sod.
5. Soil mix: Provide soil mixes in accordance with the prosed planting.
a. For tree pits: Excavate tree pits with back hoe if necessary to loosen compacted soil and rock. Remove weeds,
grasssiol and rocks to allow foraddition of soil mix and final grading. Provide imported top soil, mix with remaining
existing soil, and rake to remove roots, rocks, and other debris. Add three (3) inches of organic soil amendments
(compost, manure, garden mix, etc.), time release fertilizer (Osmocote or similar) in accordance with manufacturers
Instructions, and till thoroughly, install tree and construct a saucer around the base of the tree to hold at least 3" of
supplemental water.
b. For shrub beds: Excavate beds to remove weeds and grass compacted snit and rocks to allow for addition of soil mix
and final grading. Provide imported top soil, mix with remaining existing. soil, and rake to remove roots, rocks, and other
debris. Add three (3) inches of organic soil amendments (compost, manure, garden mix, etc.), time release fertilizer
(Osmocote. or similar) in accordance with manufacturers instructions, and till thoroughly.
c. For annual beds Excavate beds to remove weeds and grass to allow for addition of soil mix and final grading.
Provide and Install potting soil or SuperSoil" at least 4 deepmix with remaining existing soil, and rake to remove roots,
rocks, and other debris. Add fime release fertilizer (Osmocots or similar) in accordance with manufacturers instructions,
and till thoroughly. Grade to display annuals and add 2" of mulch.
6. SuperSoll: Substitute. SuperSoil for above soil mix if approved by Owner and/or Landscape Architect.
7. Gutter extensions: Provide for extending existing gutter system as may be required to prevent erosion. Taper and hkle
end of pipe with stone and/or mulch.
8 Drainage: Grade all bed areas to prmde positive drainage away from building and toward walks. drainage channels, or
lawn. Fine grade all landscaped areas to create a finished slope of 4:1 from bed edge to center of bed (rot to exceed 1
foot in height) and from building to drainage channel. Do not place soil within T of wall vent or finish floor elevation.
9. Irrigation system: Owner will install an irrigation system sufficient to assure viability of plant materials.
10. Steel Edging: Provide and install Ryerson Brand steel edging or edging material manufactured by Afco Steel Corp.
Provide stakes or hooks as needed to firmly set edging material., Edging height: 1" above lawn.
11. Mulch: Install shredded cypress (preferred) or shredded hardwood bark mulch 3" deep in all planting beds.
12. Staking and Guying: Stake and guy trees in accordance with standard nursery practices to resist wind damage (f
necessary).
13. Guarantee: Guarantee all work installed under this contract for a period of one. year. Guarantee replacement plants for a
period of one year from the date of replacement.
14. Utilities: Cali Arkansas One Call, Inc. at 833-8045 prior to const(uction for the location of public utilities that may be
affected by landscape installation. Call Arkansas One Call if prior markings have been destroyed.
15. Alternate construction techniques or details may.. be suggested by contractor for approval by the Landscape Architect
to ease construction time and cost to the owner if the proposal will achieve the same results.
