Anne Guthrie, Historic Preservation Administrator DATE: 8 August 2001 SUBJECT: Permit for 407-407'/, East 9th Street This memo serves as administrative approval from the Little Rock Historic District Commission (LRHDC) allowing the property owner of 407-407% East 9th Street permission to obtain a rehabilitation permit. I understand that the permit is for interior rehabilitation work on the structure. Since the structure is located within the MacArthur Park Historic District, exterior work comes under the LRHDC's jurisdiction. Routine maintenance is allowed within the local ordinance historic district with administrative approval. The exterior repairs should be performed in conformance to the structure: ♦ the proposed work will not alter the existing footprint, outline, profile, composition or change the configuration ♦ there will be no change to the roof slope and no introduction of new architectural detailing or materials ♦ the work will duplicate the existing in terms of shape, configuration, details, profile and materials As such, and meeting all city, building and health regulations, the application for a rehabilitation permit should be approved. When exterior improvements are planned, they will require a Certificate of Appropriateness (COA); staff should be notified and appropriate actions taken for a public hearing. Refer to the application instructions or the Design Review Guidelines: MacArthur Park Historic District for necessity of obtaining a COA. If there are questions, by all means call me at 244-5420. 12)
