An LED board to display text and photographic (not video) messages would be mounted within the frame. An artist rendering of the proposed sign is enclosed as Exhibit 3. The sign would be equipped with a photo cell sensor that would be programmed to reduce the brightness of the sign at dusk to a lower level for night- time operation. The proposed sign would be in the same location as the existing sign but each side would be at a slight angle to improve readability. The existing sign would be within the same property line setback as the existing sign. This configuration is shown on enclosed Exhibit 4. Also enclosed as Exhibit 5 is a site plan of the church's facilities south of R Street that were approved as part of the site review in 2002. The only modification requested from this approved site plan is to increase the height variance by 24 inches. The existing church sign is the only ground sign for the church, and the church pledges that it will erect no other ground signs if it is allowed to construct the proposed sign. Markham Street Little Rock, AR 72201 Dear Mr. Carney, Calvary Baptist Church is requesting a variance from its existing, approved site review plan onlyfor purposes of installing a new sign that would be more visible. The existing sign was granted a variance in 2002 as part of a site review process of a construction project on the church's property south of R Street. The existing sign is no longer in operation and must be replaced. The existing sign is shown in Exhibit 1. The existing sign is located in a low place in the middle of the block on the north side of Cantrell Road between North Pierce and Fillmore Streets. Because of the low topography, the church requests an additional height variance of 24 inches; however, the proposed sign is only 60 percent as wide as the current sign, which mitigates the visual impact of the increased height. An artist's rendering of the proposed sign as compared to the new sign is shown on Exhibit 2. The frame for the proposed sign would be constructed of aluminum sheet metal, An LED board to display text and photographic (not video) messages would be mounted within the frame. An artist rendering of the proposed sign is enclosed as Exhibit 3. The sign would be equipped with a photocell sensor that would be programmed to reduce the brightness of the sign at dusk to a lower level for night- time operation. The proposed sign would be in the same location as the existing sign but each side would be at a slight angle to improve readability. The existing sign would be within the same property line setback as the existing sign. This configuration is shown on enclosed Exhibit 4. Also enclosed as Exhibit S is a site plan of the church's facilities south of R Street that were approved as part of the site review in 2002. The only modification requested from this approved site plan is to increase the height variance by 24 Inches. The existing church sign is the only ground sign for the church, and the church pledges that it will erect no other ground signs if it is allowed to construct the proposed sign.
