HomeMy WebLinkAboutHillcrest Asscoiation Letter Hillcrest Residents Association Preservation and Planning Committee PO Box 251121 Little Rock, AR 72225 September 9, 2024 Re: 826 Beechwood Street To Whom it May Concern: The Preservation and Planning Committee of the Hillcrest Residents Association recently reviewed a variance request regarding the property at 826 Beechwood Street. Because of the unusual block configuration of this address, the rear of the house faces Palm Street, and there is a new carport proposed for this location that will extend beyond the required setback. Our observations are as follows: The driveway facing Palm Street has more space than usual due to an abandoned alley that angles off to the southeast. Even though the distance between the proposed carport and property line is below the ordinance requirement, the distance to the street seems very normal compared to the surrounding properties. The proposed carport is designed for one car, and has a scale that is not out of proportion with the other structures that face Palm Street. The proposed carport seems to fit within the established streetscape pattern of scale and spacing found in the historic Hillcrest neighborhood.
