Mr. Jordan,
Having lived in the Ferndale community for the last 17 years, we have come to appreciate & admire the citizens of the area! It is truly a “one for all attitude & all for one” way of
life.
Goodwin Manor, Andrea & Gary Goodwin, has certainly carried out this philosophy in the charity events they have hosted in their home which we have attended there honoring Arkansas Children’s,
Joseph Pfeifer Kiwanis Camp for youth, an Orphanage in Rwanda & others. We have also attended several social weddings & private events in their home!
Regardless of the occasion, the owners have always been respectful & mindful of this Community! They have restricted access to the road that would go by their neighbors! All music
and microphones are stopped at 10! They have gone above and beyond to uphold the integrity of their witness to their beliefs of treating others as you want to be treated!
Because Ferndale has become known a haven for entertaining & wedding venues, it has also become known as a “Community of Hospitality”! It has been said that people don’t want Ferndale
to become commercial … it is already commercialized from the Dollar General, to Bear Creek restaurant & gas station, to a liquor store & storage units, vets office, a plumbing business,
lawn mower business, landscaping nurseries to numerous businesses operating from their “homes”, as the Goodwins want to do from their home!
I found approximately 25 businesses in the Ferndale area that are in stand alone buildings plus at least 19 businesses that are done from homes!
Does this mean they will all need to be re-zoned also? (This was done from looking at maps & not from official records!)
Have heard it said, that it was the noise factor!
We personally cherish the sound of a band’s music and laughter dancing over the hills of this area from our neighbors! The laughter & voices we hear on the night breezes brings a much
needed reminder of the joys of fellowship we all seek. But in our part of Ferndale, all music & mics end at 10 or close to it! But the voices linger longer!
We would love to welcome to the Ferndale community another great family, Jennifer & Brian Maune, who want to purchase Goodwin Manor as a “home” to raise their six children & continue
to host & celebrate many nonprofit organizations & special events, IF the property is rezoned!
Jennifer Maune was a finalist of “Master Chief” and was honored for her accomplishments at our own State Capitol, but to buy this home they will also need Goodwin Manor to be rezoned!
They are very involved in the Pulaski County public school system, as their children attend the Joe T schools. Jennifer & Brian are being celebrated from cost to cost as a couple of
grace & integrity, who cook, design & are raising their 6 children! Their’s is definitely a commitment to each other and their community! What area wouldn’t go after and want this
family and their abilities?
Having known the Crawley & now Maune families since 1999, and their ethics and determination to be their best; to do what’s right and treat others as they want to be treated, I can think
of no greater stewards, than the Goodwins have been & the Maunes will be , for the betterment of this area if this rezoning is approved!
As Ferndale’s population grows daily, & as the businesses already in operation from homes continue to thrive, my hope is that we will continue to show what the Ferndale community is
known supporting each other’s endeavors!
Because the Ferndale area is already commercialized and because there are numerous businesses already working out of homes . . .
I do SUPPORT the REZONING of the property, known as GOODWIN MANOR.
(If our grandson weren’t participating in a sports event on Thursday, I would be in attendance! Very little comes before the grands!!!)
Appreciation & Gratitude for the work you do on behalf of our community,
Sharon Bale
