HomeMy WebLinkAboutCBC_12 16 2024LITTLE ROCK CITY BEAUTIFUL COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES The City Beautiful Commission held a planned meeting at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, December 16, 2024, at Little Rock City Hall, 2nd Floor, Board of Directors’ Chambers, 500 W. Markham St. Chairman Steven Homeyer called the meeting to order. MEMBERS PRESENT: Steven Homeyer Robert Walker Troy Laha Adam Wierciak Dax Chance Bob Winchester Lee Cowan MEMBERS ABSENT: ALSO PRESENT: Beth Carpenter, Little Rock City Attorney’s Office Simone Blagg, Little Rock City Attorney’s Office Jonathon Rasburry, Department of Planning and Development APPROVAL OF THE NOVEMBER MEETING MINUTES: Motion: A motion was made that the November 18, 2024, minutes be approved. Second: The motion was seconded, and it passed unanimously. VARIANCE REQUEST: None requested. A discussion was had about the lack of variance requests. Staff explained that none had been filed, but that the Planning Commission could also approve variance requests that were part of larger requests. City Attorney mentioned that the Planning Commission could send those down to the CBC if there was a dispute between the P.C. and applicant. TREASURER’S REPORT: Expense Report: Staff will coordinate with Adam and Brad Jordan for bank account information. KLRB: Staff will look into adding Commissioner Cowan to the mailing list. Landscape Awards: Chairman Homeyer is awaiting the finalization of the award frames. Recipients have been notified. Staff will look into coordinating with City media teams once dates have been set with recipients. Eye of the Beholder: A discussion was had about the scope and number of awards. There is no limit to the number of awards that can be given, but there is a past goal of 19 per year. Awards can be for general landscape or holiday displays. T.R.E.E. Fund: No update NEW BUSINESS: • 2025 Retreat – Commission discussed February as a target month for retreat. Chairman Homeyer will reach out about availability of space and dates and coordinate with staff. • Natural Landscape Ordinance – Staff presented the idea of trying to introduce a natural landscape ordinance to the city code. A discussion was held about the different city departments that will need to be involved. Staff will put together a more detailed presentation to bring before the commission at the retreat. ANNOUNCEMENTS: The next Commission meeting will be January 23, 2025. ADJOURNMENT: Chairman Homeyer entertained a motion to adjourn the meeting. Motion: A motion was made for the meeting to adjourn. Second: The motion was seconded, and it passed unanimously. The meeting was adjourned at 4:42 pm.
