Home My WebLink AboutNOH 082924 August 28, 2024 Dear Heights Property Owner, Enclosed is a copy of a Notice for the Board of Adjustment Residential Zoning Variance that the City has asked us to send you. We are currently building a home to accommodate a family with four vehicles at 5520 Hawthorne Rd. In order to build a home with garage space to accommodate the four vehicles, we are asking for a variance of a reduced rear yard setback, which would be the equivalent of a detached garage or accessory building setback. Note: Since this property is at the corner of Hawthorne and N. Taylor, street parking causes blindspots and safety hazards for the motorists, pedestrians and small children that cross the intersection at Hawthorne and N. Taylor. Also, the additional secure garage parking will help deter car break ins and thefts that commonly occur in the neighborhood with vehicles parked overnight on the street. The City has shared with us that this type of variance is very common in the neighborhood and the same variance has been requested and approved for many property owners in the close proximity of this home. We hope this variance will reduce street parking in the immediate area and be to the benefit of the neighborhood.
