Dear Planning and Development Staff:
Enclosed is an application for the Board of Adjustment Residential Zoning Variance.
We are currently building a home for Dr. Bobby Kakati and Dr. Sarika Kakati at 2407 N. Pierce.
Currently the property has a detached 3-car garage to the rear of the house with a breezeway
connecting the two buildings. There is approximately 6 feet separating the two structures.
The family wishes to enclose the breezeway for safety and security reasons and we do not
believe this would have any negative effect on adjoining property owners.
It is my understanding that in order to do this we would have to request a variance for a reduced
rear setback since the results of closing in the breezeway would mean that these two structures
would now be counted as one. Note: We are not asking for any additional encroachment to the
setback beyond the currently permitted detached garage that is under construction.
