3 A RESOLUTON TO APPROVE A CONTRACT WITH CASCO TO PROVIDE THERMAL
4 IMAGING CAMERAS TO THE LITTLE ROCK FIRE DEPARTMENT FOR 2007, WITH
5 THE AUTHORITY TO CONTINUE TO PROVIDE A CERTAIN NUMBER OF CAMERAS
6 IN ENSUING YEARS; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.

8 WHEREAS, the Little Rock Fire Department has implemented a multi -year plan to assure that
9 there are at least two thermal imaging cameras aboard City fire apparatus; and
10 WHEREAS, these cameras enhance the safety and efficiency of firefighters since they enable
11 firefighters in the midst of a fire and smoke to discern the placement of walls, open flames, and
12 trapped or unconscious victims; and
13 WHEREAS, in order to meet this goal, the City published RFP No. C06019 which was opened on
14 September 6, 2006; and
15 WHEREAS, of the four responses to this competitive bid it was determined that Casco, of Bry-
16 ant, Arkansas, was the lowest responsible and responsive bidder; and
17 WHEREAS, the bid authorized a contract for one year that, with the approval of both the City
18 and the successful bidder, could be extended for two additional years,
19 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE
20 ROCK, ARKANSAS:
21 Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to enter into a contract with Casco of Bryant, Arkan-
22 sas, to provide fifteen MSA Evolution 5200 TIC thermal imaging cameras for an initial amount of
23 eight thousand seven hundred dollars ($8700.00) each, plus applicable sales tax.
24 Section 2. The City Manager is authorized two approve two individual and separate one year
25 extension of this agreement if it is judged to be in the best interests of the City to do so, and if
26 Casco agrees to do so pursuant to its response to the competitive bid.
27 Section 3. Funds for this agreement, and any one -year extension, shall be a part of the annual
28 budget for the Little Rock Fire Department.
29 Section 4 Severability. In the event any title, section, paragraph, item, sentence, clause,
30 phrase, or word of this resolution is declared or adjudged to be invalid or unconstitutional, such
31 declaration or adjudication shall not affect the remaining portions of the resolution which shall re-
32 main in full force and effect as if the portion so declared or adjudged invalid or unconstitutional
33 was not originally a part of the resolution.
34 Section 5. Repealer. All laws, ordinances, resolutions, or parts of the same, that are inconsis-
35 tent with the provisions of this resolution, are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency.
