HomeMy WebLinkAbout16470 1 RESOLUTION NO. 16,470 2 3 A RESOLUTION OF INTENT TO REQUEST BIDS TO RETAIN 4 PRIVATE-SECTOR CONSTRUCTION PROJECT MANAGERS FOR THE 5 SPORTS COMPLEXES AND OTHER LARGE PROJECTS IN HINDMAN 6 AND WAR MEMORIAL PARK,PROVIDED THAT THE 3/8-CENT SALES 7 AND COMPENSATING USE TAX WITHIN THE CITY OF LITTLE 8 ROCK, ARKANSAS, TO BE USED FOR GENERAL OPERATIONAL 9 PURPOSES AND THE 5/8-CENT SALES AND COMPENSATING USE to TAX WITHIN THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS, TO BE USED 11 FOR GENERAL CAPITAL PURPOSES ARE APPROVED BY THE 12 ELECTORATE OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK ON NOVEMBER 5, 13 2024; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. 14 15 WHEREAS, there is a vital need for the City of Little Rock to obtain additional revenue to provide 16 services for its citizens,and, 17 WHEREAS,the City of Little Rock needs to maintain its existing parks and add new attractions to 18 continue to grow;and, 19 WHEREAS, the proposed projects funded by the proposed sales taxes include indoor and outdoor 20 sports complexes and other large projects at Hindman and War Memorial Park;and, 21 WHEREAS,the City of Little Rock has an interest in continuing to be good stewards of taxpayers and 22 ensure the projects are completed on time;and, 23 WHEREAS, it is the intent of the City of Little Rock to request bids to retain private-sector construc- 24 tion project managers to manage the building of the projects proposed by the approval of the sales taxes, 25 including the sports complexes and other large projects at Hindman and War Memorial Park; and, 26 WHEREAS, it is the intent of the Board of Directors of the City of Little Rock to fulfill the above 27 stated intentions provided the 3/8-cent sales and compensating use tax within the City of Little Rock, Ar- 28 kansas,to be used for general operational purposes and the 5/8-cent sales and compensating use tax within 29 the City of Little Rock,Arkansas,to be used for general capital purposes are approved by the electorate of 30 the City of Little Rock on November 5,2024. 31 NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF 32 LITTLE ROCK,ARKANSAS: [PAGE 1 OF 2] 1 Section 1. The City hereby states its intention to request bids to retain private-sector construction 2 project managers for the completion of the projects proposed by the 3/8-cent sales and compensating use 3 tax within the City of Little Rock, Arkansas,to be used for general operational purposes and the 5/8-cent 4 sales and compensating use tax within the City of Little Rock, including the sports complexes and other 5 large projects at Hindman and War Memorial Park. 6 Section 2. Severability. In the event any portion of this Resolution is declared or adjudged to be 7 invalid or unconstitutional, such declaration or adjudication shall not affect the remaining portions of this 8 Resolution,which shall remain in full force and effect as if the portion so declared or adjudged invalid or 9 unconstitutional was not originally a part of this Resolution. 10 Section 3. Repealer.
