Initally, we will comply with your recommendations and 1) apply with the Municipal Waterworks for a meter for the new structure. 2) revise the site plan to indicate the needed information. 3) submitt a one -lot final plat after preliminary approval. However, we would like to respectively request a variance on the dedication of right-of-way and street improvements on Highway 365 and also, on the streets surrounding the site, Gilbert, Hampton and South Wilson. Although these recommendations are made in good faith, granting of our request for variance will not be detrimental to the public safety, health, welfare or injurious to other property. Also, the site is separated from the highway by the existing community building and parking lot. It would seem that improvement of the highway should not be based on the development of this project. Additionally, although improvements of the streets surrounding the site would be very positive, it would be very cost prohibitive at this time. Funding for this project is very limited and is established through a grant developed specifically for the building. Non -development of this project at this time could result in the loss of grant funds. Finally, if the street improvements are tied to the development of this project, the community could be adversely affected and possibly caused additional hardship. As you know, the existing Sweet Home Volunteer Fire Department offers fire protection, support and back-up services for many surrounding communities. Completion of this project will improve those services and offer an additional sense of security in the service area.
