3 A RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER
4 INTO A CONTRACT WITH SYMETRA LIFE INSURANCE COMPANY,
5 IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED SEVEN HUNDRED FIFTY
6 THOUSAND DOLLARS ($750,000.00), TO PROVIDE GROUP LIFE,
7 GROUP AD&D AND LONG-TERM DISABILITY INSURANCE FOR THE
8 PERIOD BEGINNING JANUARY 1, 2025, TO DECEMBER 31, 2025; AND
9 FOR OTHER PURPOSES.

11 WHEREAS,the City offers Group Life,Group AD&D and Long-Term Disability Insurance for City
12 employees and their dependents;and,
13 WHEREAS, the Board of Directors of the City of Little Rock, Arkansas, decided in 2017 that the
14 Insurance Broker selected through the professional service process would have the ability to conduct any
15 competitive selection process for the City of Little Rock's insurance needs in Little Rock,Ark.,Ordinance
16 No.21,442(July 5,2017); and,
17 WHEREAS,Resolution No. 16,107 (September 19, 2023) authorized the initial term of the contract
18 with Symetra Insurance for 2024,with the option to extend the contract for six(6)additional one(1)year
19 terms;and,
20 WHEREAS,the basic cost for Group Life, Group AD&D and Long-Term Disability Insurance is not
21 to exceed Seven Hundred Fifty Thousand Dollars ($750,000.00) for 2025, for City employees and their
22 dependents;and,
23 WHEREAS,the contract term for 2025 represents year two(2)of a potential seven(7)year term.
24 NOW,'THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY
25 OF LITTLE ROCK,ARKANSAS:
26 Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to enter into a contract with Symetra Life Insurance
27 Company to provide Group Life, Group AD&D and Long-Term Disability Insurance for the period of
28 January 1,2025,to December 31,2025,for an amount not to exceed Seven Hundred Fifty Thousand Dollars
29 ($750,000.00).
30 Section 2. Funds for this contract are included the 2025 budget line item for Group Life,AD&D and
31 LTD Insurance accounting unit#100000 and accounts#21250,#21251,and#21260.
32 Section 3. Severability. In the event any portion of this Resolution is declared or adjudged to be
33 invalid or unconstitutional, such declaration or adjudication shall not affect the remaining portions of this

i Resolution,which shall remain in full force and effect as if the portion so declared or adjudged invalid or
2 unconstitutional was not originally a part of this Resolution.
3 Section 4. Repealer. All ordinances and resolutions, and parts thereof, which are in conflict with
4 any provision of this ordinance are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
