HomeMy WebLinkAbout16394 1 RESOLUTION NO. 16,394 2 3 A RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER 4 INTO A SUB-AWARD AGREEMENT WITH THE LITTLE ROCK 5 SCHOOL DISTRICT TO ADMINISTER A GRANT TO SUPPORT 6 GARDEN EDUCATORS AT COMMUNITY SCHOOLS; AND FOR 7 OTHER PURPOSES. 8 9 WHEREAS, the City of Little Rock, Arkansas (City), was awarded One Hundred Twenty-Five 10 Thousand Dollars ($125,000.00) from the African American Mayors Association (AAMA) for Nutrition 11 Access,Affordability and Education for Little Rock School District(LRSD);and, 12 WHEREAS, the City has partnered with LRSD to administer the grant and will align and build upon 13 existing efforts to provide nutrition and education through school gardens;and, 14 WHEREAS,the City will make a Seventy Thousand Dollar($70,000.00)sub-award to LRSD for the 15 benefit of Chicot Elementary,McDermott Elementary,Mabelvale Elementary and Watson Elementary for 16 Garden Educators; and, 17 WHEREAS,the City will make a Two Thousand Dollar($2,000.00)sub-award for Garden Supplies 18 to LRSD for the benefit of Chicot Elementary, McDermott Elementary, Mabelvale Elementary and 19 Watson Elementary;and, 20 WHEREAS, the remaining Fifty-Three Thousand Dollars ($53,000.00) from the AAMA Grant for 21 Nutrition Access Affordability and Education for LRSD will provide funds for family cooking classes 22 focused on budget-friendly, nutritious, culturally-appropriate meals utilizing ingredients available in the 23 community. 24 NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY 25 OF LITTLE ROCK,ARKANSAS: 26 Section 1.The Board of Directors authorizes that City Manager to enter into a Sub-Award Agreement 27 with Little Rock School District, in an amount not to exceed Seventy-Two Thousand Dollars 28 ($72,000.00), to administer the African American Mayors Association Grant for Nutrition Access, 29 Affordability and Education for the Little Rock School District for the benefit of Chicot Elementary, 30 McDermott Elementary,Mabelvale Elementary and Watson Elementary for Garden Educators. 31 Section 2. Funds for the Sub-Award will be allocated in Account No. G15F242. 32 Section 3. Severability. In the event any title, section, paragraph, item, sentence, clause, phrase, or 33 word of this resolution is declared or adjudged to be invalid or unconstitutional, such declaration or [Page 1 of 2] 1 adjudication shall not affect the remaining portions of the resolution, which shall remain in full force and 2 effect as if the portion so declared or adjudged invalid or unconstitutional were not originally a part of the 3 resolution. 4 Section 4. Repealer. All laws, ordinances, resolutions, or parts of the same, that are inconsistent 5 with the provisions of this resolution,are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency. 6 ADOPTED: August 6, 24 7 S .
