3 A RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER
4 INTO A CONTRACT WITH THE LITTLE ROCK SCHOOL DISTRICT
5 TO CONTINUE A SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICER PROGRAM, FOR
6 THE 2024-2025 SCHOOL YEAR, BEGINNING JULY 1, 2024, AND
7 ENDING JUNE 1,2025; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.

9 WHEREAS,the Little Rock Police Department seeks approval to enter into a contract with the Little
10 Rock School District("LRSD")to continue a School Resource Officer Program for the 2024-2025 School
11 Year,beginning July 1,2024,and ending June 1,2025;and,
12 WHEREAS,the City and LRSD desire to reduce juvenile crime and to promote responsible behavior
13 on the part of students; and,
14 WHEREAS, this objective will continue to be accomplished by the controlled interaction of the
15 City's Police Officers with students and staff of LRSD through the School Officer Resource Program;
16 and,
17 WHEREAS,the Agreement provides for up to two(2) Police Supervisors and up to twenty-two(22)
18 Police Officers with assignments in LRSD;and,
19 WHEREAS, LRSD will reimburse the City for 50% of the salaries, benefits, overtime and
20 compensatory time for each School Resource Officer while school is in regular and summer school
21 sessions.
22 NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY
23 OF LITTLE ROCK,ARKANSAS:
24 Section 1. The Board of Directors authorizes the City Manager to enter into a contract with the Little
25 Rock School District to continue a School Resource Officer Program, for the 2024-2025 school year,
26 beginning July 1, 2024, and ending June 1, 2025. Absent termination by the City or the Little Rock
27 School District, the Agreement shall be renewed for an additional one (1)-year term and shall require a
28 joint review of the terms and conditions of the Agreement by both parties prior to the renewal date and
29 communication between both parties that no substantial changes are required.
30 Section 2. Severability. In the event any title, section, paragraph, item, sentence, clause, phrase, or
31 word of this resolution is declared or adjudged to be invalid or unconstitutional, such declaration or
32 adjudication shall not affect the remaining portions of the resolution, which shall remain in full force and
33 effect as if the portion so declared or adjudged invalid or unconstitutional were not originally a part of the
34 resolution.

1 Section 3.Repealer. All laws, ordinances, resolutions,or parts of the same, that are inconsistent with
2 the provisions of this resolution,are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency.
