Here is what I would like to do immediately. Attached are the application page 5, the settlement statement from closing on 515 Rock St ( I hope this works), and photos of the wheelchair ramp, sign and siding issues. 1. The wheelchair ramp is just sitting in place so it won't alter any of the structure. 2. Siding. So far, I have been unable to locate any cedar bevel siding locally. I'm being told that they can't even order it. Do you have any sources? I can set up and cut it myself, but I might save that for when I do a more extensive restoration of the exterior. For instance, I can likely locate some old growth pine and cut it from that instead of cedar. For now I think I'll likely use the yellow pine that Kauffman has available. (I know it won't last, but it will keep water out while I focus on other aspects of the house). Sorry for rambling. I only say all this incase you have any better suggestions. :) Side note, I'm also looking for cedar shake for the roof of the Shoppach House in Benton. It's harder to get now. I have ABC Supply checking on getting some out of Canada. Just in case you have any suggestions. 3. Paint. I have the same exterior paint colors that the previous owner left. I plan to caulk and touch up where needed. Is this everything you need from me? Thanks your help! The removal of the non-historic sign and the non-historic handicap ramp can be administratively reviewed. Please provided photos of both. I don’t believe the removal of the handicap ramp will damage the porch or steps in any way from how it was installed. 2 You are welcome to provide the photos you have. If additional photos are needed, I can swing by the property or let you know what specific photos I am missing. I appreciate it. Joe On Fri, Mar 22, 2024 at 11:05 AM Joe Tollett <joe.tollett@gmail.com> wrote: Thank you for all your help. I appreciate you sharing the files you have on the property. That helps a lot. 3 I'm working on getting together what I need to fix right away and have a couple questions before I submit the application. 1. I would like to remove the sign and wheel chair ramp in the front of the property. (note the previous owner removed the portion of the sign that read "Madden Law Firm".) Is this something that you can do in-house or do we have to do the whole process with the committee? 2. I didn't bring a ladder with me when I took photos of what needs to be fixed. I only took a photo of 1 dormer from the ground. All 3 have siding that is either damaged or missing. I can take better photos, but the ones you have on file from the previous owner still represent the dormer's current condition well. Ultimately, I don't mind taking more photos if needed. To summarize some basic information about the MacArthur Park Local Ordinance District and the Little Rock Historic District Commission: The property at 515 S Rock Street is within the MacArthur Park Local Ordinance District. The goal of the local ordinance district is to protect and preserve the unique and valued qualities of such an area, its urban design, architectural character, and historic materials in buildings and in landscapes. A property owner in this district is subject to the rules and regulations as set forth by the City of Little Rock ordinances, Municipal Code Chapter 23, Sec. 76-160, that is based on Arkansas State law. Any exterior renovation of structures, additions, fencing, or other site features need to be either administratively approved by staff or reviewed by the Little Rock Historic District Commission at their regularly monthly public meetings. For information for the Historic District Commission and the MacArthur Park Design Guidelines, please visit the City’s website: littlerock.gov Click on Government > Planning & Development Click on Boards & Commissions 4 Scroll down to Historic District Commission In this section, you will find information regarding the HDC, the design guidelines and the application process. I have attached the Certificate of Appropriateness application here for your convenience. Regarding the work you would like to do to the rear of the property, please complete page 5 of the application and return to staff via email, mail, or delivered in person at the Planning & Development office at 723 W. Markham. Please also make sure to include with your application the relevant submittal documents. You will not need to pay a filing fee for this application since this scope of work can be administratively reviewed. Please also remember to provide proof of ownership. We have three Historic District Commission case files associated with the property. One is available online and the other two will be digitized here shortly. We also have a zoning case file associated with the property that has been digitized.  HDC1987-003  HDC1991-001  HDC2023-015 – COC for porch repair. This COC is now void for the scope of work that was not completed since it does not go with the property when the ownership is changed. However, you can see what was previously approved. It looks like some work was partially completed.  Z-3275 – 1978 Condition Use Permit for office use applied for by Harry Narkinsky Lastly, as a resource to property owners, Planning & Development staff have created an interactive map of the district using GIS technology for property owner to access key information regarding each site: MacArthur Park Historic District Interactive Map.
