Good morning Heather,
Thank you for contacting staff regarding your home at 1311 Cumberland. To summarize some basic information about
the MacArthur Park Local Ordinance District and the Little Rock Historic District Commission:
The property at 1311 Cumberland is within the MacArthur Park Local Ordinance Historic District. The goal of the local
ordinance historic district is to protect and preserve the unique and valued qualities of such an area, its urban design,
architectural character, and historic materials in buildings and in landscapes. A property owner in this district is subject
to the rules and regulations as set forth by the City of Little Rock ordinances, Municipal Code Chapter 23, Sec. 76-160,
that is based on Arkansas State law. Any exterior renovation of structures, additions, fencing, or other site features need
to be either administratively approved by staff or reviewed by the Little Rock Historic District Commission at their
regularly monthly public meetings.
The replacement of asphalt shingles for architectural shingles on residential structures can be administratively reviewed
by staff and does not require a public hearing. Is this the full scope of your proposed work or will any other alterations
be made to the structure during the reroof?
You will need to complete and submit the following documentation: Page 5 of the Certificate of Appropriateness
application packet, photographs of the structure, list of materials, and proof of ownership. Please see more information
on each requested submittal on pages 1 and 2 of the application packet.

Hi Hannah,
I’m getting a new roof at 1311 Cumberland St. I have a leak in my roof and need to get it replaced. I have asphalt
shingles now and I’m going back with architectural asphalt shingles that match some of the other roofs around me.
What information do I need to get to you for a COA?
