Dear Members of the Planning and Development Committee,
I am writing to submit our application for rezoning our property located at 1219 Marlyn Drive,
Little Rock, AR 72205 — sitting at the front of the Twin Lakes subdivision and only a stone's
throw from Baptist Health. This house sits just off the interchange of 1-430 and 1-630, allowing
easy access to the rest of the medical facilities in the city as well. Although we do not currently
own the house, we have an agreement with the owner to one day purchase the property from
her. For now, though, she happily allows us to operate this property as a short-term rental.
At the time of taking over this house, we saw a need for families that are traveling from out of
town to (JAMS, CHI St. Vincent, Baptist Health, and Arkansas Children's Hospital. When these
families are coming to Little Rock with loved ones that are having procedures or being cared for
at these hospitals, they often have to be separated into several hotel rooms. When families are
already so vulnerable and dealing with hard times, we want them to be able to provide them a
nurturing environment where they can stay together, cook and eat meals together, and relax all
in one dwelling. It allows families to be able to bond and care for each other when they need it
most. This was and still is our mission with 1219 Marlyn Drive.
This home has served as a short -rental haven to many travelers. Moreover, we have even had
traveling nurses and medical students completing rotations at Baptist stay at this house. The
extra space of the home has allowed friends and family to visit these nurses and students when
they are far from home. It has truly been a pleasure providing a temporary home to our guests.
We aspire to continue offering this service to keep families traveling to Little Rock together.
We sincerely hope for the understanding and approval of the committee and neighborhood to be
able to continue serving others with our mission driving us forward. Thank you for considering
