RE: Family Peace Center – POD (Z-8764-B)

Development Staff Comments:
1. Provide a more detailed description of proposed use.
The Family Peace Center will receive and disperse donations to victims of
domestic violence, while also providing temporary housing, as well as an
array of services (noted in comment response 3).
2. Will there be overnight/temporary boarding?
Yes. There will be overnight and temporary boarding.
3. What services will be provided to clients?
Services will include:
o Statewide Domestic Violence 24-Hour Hotline
o Emergency Shelter
o Sexual assault program
o Children’s Program
o Outreach clients/legal help
o Camp Hope (refuge for children)
o Advocacy Program and Support (medical, housing, employment)
o Transitional Housing
o Adult Education
o Community Education and outreach program
4. Provide complete/executed Affidavit.

5. Will there be a dumpster on site? If so, dumpster areas must be screened and
comply with Section 36-523 of the City’s Zoning Ordinance.
Yes, there will be a dumpster onsite and it will be screened and comply
with Section 36-523.
6. Any sight lighting must be low-level and directed away from adjacent properties.
Noted, all site lighting will be low-level.
7. Will there be a sign? If so, all signage must comply with Section 36 -553 (signs
permitted in institutional and office zones).
The developers are discussing if they will have a sign or a temporary sign.
In either case, the sign, whether permanent or temporary, will comply will
Section 36-553.

Arkansas Water for review. Plan revisions
may be required after additional review.
Contact Central Arkansas Water regarding
procedures for installation of water facilities
and/or fire service. Approval of plans by the
Arkansas Department of Health Engineering
Division and Little Rock Fire Department is
required.
A Capital Investment Charge based on the
size of meter connection(s) will apply to this
project in addition to normal charges. This
fee will apply to all connections including
metered connections off the private fire
system.
Contact Central Arkansas Water regarding
the size and location of the water meter.
The facilities on-site will be private. When
meters are planned off private lines, private
facilities shall be installed to Central
Arkansas Water's material and construction
specifications and installation will be
inspected by an engineer, licensed to
practice in the State of Arkansas. Execution
of Customer Owned Line Agreement is
required.
Due to the nature of this facility, installation
of an approved reduced pressure zone
backflow preventer assembly (RPZ) is
required on the domestic water service. This
assembly must be installed prior to the first
point of use. Central Arkansas Water (CAW)
requires that upon installation of the RPZA,
successful tests of the assembly must be
completed by a Certified Assembly Tester
licensed by the State of Arkansas and
approved by CAW. The test results must be
sent to CAW's Cross Connection Section
within ten days of installation and annually
thereafter. Contact the Cross Connection
Section at 377-1226 if you would like to
discuss backflow prevention requirements
for this project.
Fire sprinkler systems which do not contain
additives such as antifreeze shall be isolated
with a double detector check valve
