Description of materials to be used;
The existing foundation will remain unchanged. The current
round wooden columns will be replaced with beveled 6" x 6" posts
set on a 1' x 1' plywood box pedestal with applied panel with a
trim mounding on the pedestal cap.
A 2" x 4" handrail will surround the porch and run between
the support columns. It will be braced by 2" x 2" wooden
supports. Plywood panels with decorative cutouts will fill the
spaces between the columns and the supports.
The existing brackets will be left at the top of the support
column and the 1' built up beam supporting the roof will be
repaired and replaced where nesscessary.
A wooden handicapped ramp will be added to the north side of
the porch to ease access by disabled clients. No other changes to

Proposed Porch Renovation - 515 Rock
Amended Narrative
The original proposal is amended in the following areas:
1) Materials - The design elements which were originally
to be constructed of plywood will be constructed of a
solid wood stock, as per the Historic District Commission's
recommendation.
2) Handicapped Access - The original proposal called for a
"standard" handicapped ramp, which doubled back and
entered the porch at the north end. The amended proposal
calls for an "elevated walkway", which will take the place
of both the existing steps and the originally proposed
ramp. This walkway will be constructed of fill dirt
with a brick sidewalk extending from the sidewalk to the
west edge of the porch, where the existing steps are now
located. Slope of the walkway will be no greater than
1 in 12.
3) All other materials and design elements will remain as
originally proposed.
