HomeMy WebLinkAbout16239 1 RESOLUTION NO. 16,239 2 3 A RESOLUTION TO AMEND LITTLE ROCK, ARK., RESOLUTION NO. 4 13,709 (JUNE 18, 2023), TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO 5 ENTER INTO A FIVE (5)-YEAR COMMERCIAL LEASE EXTENSION 6 FOR THE PROPERTY OWNED BY WORLD SERVICES FOR THE 7 BLIND, INC., LOCATED AT 2823 SOUTH TYLER STREET, TO 8 PROVIDE A NEIGHBORHOOD RESOURCE CENTER, IN AN ANNUAL 9 AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED TWENTY THOUSAND DOLLARS 10 ($20,000.00), WHICH WILL COVER THE COST OF THE SIX HUNDRED 11 FIFTY DOLLAR ($650.00) MONTHLY RENTAL FEE, ALONG WITH 12 MAINTENANCE AND ROUTINE REPAIRS OF THE PROPERTY; AND 13 FOR OTHER PURPOSES. 14 15 WHEREAS, World Services for the Blind, Inc., owns the property located at 2823 South Tyler 16 Street, in Little Rock, Arkansas, and is willing to lease the property for use by the Housing & 17 Neighborhood Programs Department as a Neighborhood Alert Center; and, 18 WHEREAS, on June 18, 2013, the Board of Directors approved Little Rock, Ark., Resolution No. 19 13,709, which authorized a ten (10)-year lease, with an option to extend the lease for an additional five 20 (5)years; this extension represents the additional five(5)-year lease; and, 21 WHEREAS, the Board of Directors recognizes the importance of providing a Neighborhood 22 Resource Center in the Oak Forest Neighborhood, and authorizes the City Manager to enter into a five 23 (5)-year commercial lease extension in an annual amount not to exceed Twenty Thousand Dollars 24 ($20,000.00), which includes monthly rent in the amount of Six Hundred Fifty Dollars ($650.00), along 25 with maintenance and routine repairs of the property. 26 NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY 27 OF LITTLE ROCK,ARKANSAS: 28 Section 1. The Board of Directors hereby authorizes the City Manager to enter into a five (5)-year 29 commercial lease extension with World Services for the Blind, in an annual amount not to exceed Twenty 30 Thousand Dollars ($20,000.00), which includes monthly rent in the amount of Six Hundred Fifty Dollars 31 ($650.00), along with maintenance and routine repairs, for the use of the property located at 2823 South 32 Tyler Street for use as a Neighborhood Alert Center. 33 Section 2. Funding for the lease is available from the Housing & Neighborhood Programs General 34 Fund Budget, Account No. 103539-AAONACP. IPage 1 of 21 1 Section 3. Severability. In the event any title, section, paragraph, item, sentence, clause, phrase, or 2 word of this resolution is declared or adjudged to be invalid or unconstitutional, such declaration or 3 adjudication shall not affect the remaining portions of the resolution which shall remain in full force and 4 effect as if the portion so declared or adjudged invalid or unconstitutional were not originally a part of the 5 resolution. 6 Section 4. Repealer.
