HomeMy WebLinkAboutZ-7824 ApplicationIPA Cl. 0C, City of Little Rock Department of Planning and Development Planning 723 West Markham Street Zoning and Little Rock, Arkansas 72201-1334 $UbdIVISIOn Phone: (501) 371-4790 Fax: (501) 399-3435 or 371-6863 MEMORANDUM TO: Plans Examiner FROM: Dana Carney, Zoning and Subdivision Mana SUBJECT: Portable Classroom Placement at Mabelvale Elementary School 9401 Mabelvale Cut-off DATE: March 22, 2005 Placement of the portable classroom buildings described in the attached applications is approved subject to compliance with the following conditions: ■ Doorways should be oriented toward the school building. ■ Assure any new lighting is directed downward and into the school site. ■ Comply with any spacing requirements of the Fire Department or Building Codes Life Safety. ■ Comply with building, plumbing and electrical codes as required. ■ All structures must be skirted and tied down. ■ Provide hard surface walkway from each building to paved parking lot or to connecting sidewalks. ■ Paint or improve the structures to be as compatible with the school building as possible. ■ Placement of the building is approved until July 19, 2009 as per the sunset provision established in Section 36-203 of the Code of Ordinances. ■ A setback of at least 25 feet must be maintained from all property lines. It is the staff's intention to make a recommendation to the Little Rock School District Board of Directors in March 2005 that will include as one of its options the relocation of portables to Mabelvale Elementary School to house the children while the building is undergoing repairs. It is not confirmed at this date as to whether this will be the chosen option; but, if so, its complexity requires early stages of planning. Should this option not be decided upon, other options include relocating portables to the present Cloverdale site or relocating the children without portables. I wish I could say at this time which direction the Board will take, but I would like to have this letter in-place in the event that they choose the option that, on the surface, appears to most meet the needs of the Little Rock School District. I thank you ahead of time for your cooperation in this matter, and I will keep you apprised of the Board's actions as they occur.
