To summarize some basic informaƟon about the MacArthur Park Local Ordinance District and the LiƩle Rock Historic District Commission: The property at 610 E 6th is within the MacArthur Park Local Ordinance Historic District. The goal of the local ordinance historic district is to protect and preserve the unique and valued qualiƟes of such an area, its urban design, architectural character, and historic materials in buildings and in landscapes. A property owner in this district is subject to the rules and regulaƟons as set forth by the City of LiƩle Rock ordinances, Municipal Code Chapter 23, Sec. 76-160, that is based on Arkansas State law. Any exterior renovaƟon of structures, addiƟons, fencing, or other site features need to be either administraƟvely approved by staff or reviewed by the LiƩle Rock Historic District Commission at their regularly monthly public meeƟngs. Ou records indicate that a new signage was erected without a CerƟficate of Appropriateness (COA) and in violaƟon of Sec. 26-115 of the LiƩle Rock Code of Ordinances, as well as without a sign permit. To bring the property in compliance with state law, obtain a COA from the LiƩle Rock Historic District Commission by filing an applicaƟon and fulfilling all requirements thereof. An applicaƟon is aƩached here for your convenience. The new signage can be administra Ɵvely reviewed. Please complete Page 4 of the applicaƟon and provide a current photo of the new sign as well as any documentaƟon idenƟfying sign locaƟon, dimensions, and materials (typically provided by the sign company you worked with). AddiƟonally, I misspoke over the phone, since you are currently not the property owner, you will need to provide a notarized statement from the property owner to pursue a COA. You may use Page 6 of the applica Ɵon for this purpose. For more informaƟon about the Historic District Commission and the MacArthur Park Design Guidelines, please visit the City’s website: liƩlerock.gov Click on Government > Planning & Development On the right-hand menu find Boards & Commissions Scroll down to Historic District Commission In this secƟon, you will find informaƟon regarding the HDC, the design guidelines and the applicaƟon process.
