This is a noƟficaƟon regarding an addiƟonal permit request for 1402 S Commerce recently applied for by Shine Solar: #
202319025. A CerƟficate of Appropriateness is also required for mechanical systems for structures in the Local
Ordinance District. Standards and guidelines concerning mechanical systems can be found on page 61 of the MacArthur
Park Design Guidelines. To avoid submiƩed to separate applicaƟons to the LiƩle Rock Historic District Commission, you
may include the HVAC installaƟon within the solar panel applicaƟon. Mechanical systems may be reviewed
administraƟvely if the project meets the below criteria:
Repair or replace unit with unit in same locaƟon as exisƟng.
Eliminate any condenser units and supply/condensate lines that are replaced when visible from the street. Do
not run supply or condensate lines on the exterior of the building.
Place condensing units at the back of the building away from the street view.
In your applicaƟon, please provide the locaƟon and installaƟon informaƟon for the new mechanical equipment.

Thank you for your call concerning the permit # 202318660 and the installaƟon of solar panels at 1402 Commerce. The
property at 1402 Commerce, is within the MacArthur Park Local Ordinance Historic District. To summarize some basic
informaƟon about the MacArthur Park Local Ordinance District and the LiƩle Rock Historic District Commission:
The goal of the local ordinance historic district is to protect and preserve the unique and valued quali Ɵes of such an
area, its urban design, architectural character, and historic materials in buildings and in landscapes. A property owner in
this district is subject to the rules and regulaƟons as set forth by the City of LiƩle Rock ordinances, Municipal Code
Chapter 23, Sec. 76-160, that is based on Arkansas State law. Any exterior renovaƟon of structures, addiƟons, fencing, or

other site features need to be either administraƟvely approved by staff or reviewed by the LiƩle Rock Historic District
Commission at their regularly monthly public meeƟngs. The next filing deadline is October 2nd to be heard at the
November 2nd Historic District Commission public hearing.
