CONCRETE AND FOUNDATION NOTE,
1. THE PAVEMENT SLAB SHALL BEAR ON A MINIMUM OF 4' OF SAND OR GRAVEL. A 6 MIL
VISQUEEN TYPE VAPOR BARRIER SHALL BE PLACED DIRECTLY BENEATH THE SLAB,
2 BENEATH THE GRAVEL OR SAND SHALL BE COMPACTED SELECT LOW PLASTICITY FILL. SELECT FILL
SHALL BE PLACED IN 6-8 INCH LOOSE LIFTS AND COMPACTED TO AT LEAST 95% OF THE
MAXIMUM DRY DENSITY AS DETERMINED BY STANDARD PROCTOR (ASTM D-698)
PROCEDURE.
3. SELECT FILL SOILS SHALL CONSIST OF CLAYEY SAND, SANDY CLAY, OR CLAYEY GRAVEL HAVING A
LIQUID LIMIT LESS THAN 40,
4. THE FOUNDATION DESIGN IS BASED ON AN ALLOWABLE BEARING PRESSURE OF 2000 PSF.
CONTRACTOR SMALL RETAIN A GEOTECHNICAL TESTING FIRM TO CONFIRM THAT THE CAPABILITY OF
EXISTING SOILS HAVE THIS CAPABILITY. ALL FOOTINGS SHALL BE PLACED ON UNDISTURBED
SOIL.
5. AMERICAN CONCRETE INSTITUTE (ACI) SPECIFICATIONS SHALL GOVERN ALL PHASES OF
CONCRETE CONSTRUCTION.
6. ALL CONCRETE SHALL HAVE A 28 DAY COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH OF 3000 PSI.
7. ALL REINFORCING STEEL SHALL BE GRADE 60.
REINFORCED MASONRY NOTES -
1. MASONRY SHALL MEET THE REQUIREMENTS 13F THE SPECIFICATION FOR MASONRY STRUCTURES,
ACI 530-99,
2. COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH FOR MASONRY (f'm) SHALL BE 1500 PSI.
3. CONCRETE BLOCK TO BE FILLED WITH CONCRETE AND REINFORCED SHALL BE AS SHOWN IXJ THE
PLANS. VERTICAL REINFORCING MAY BE SPLICED IF REQUIRED. MINIMUM LAP SPLICES SHALL
BE 48 BAR DIAMETERS.
4. CENTRAL JOINTS FOR THE 8' CONCRETE BLOCK WALL SHALL BE LOCATED a MIDPOINT BETWEEN
PILASTER AND SHALL NOT EXCEED 24' SPACING.
5. HORIZONTAL REINFORCING SHALL BE VITH DURAWALL, OR EQUAL, SPACED EVERY OTHER BLOCK
BLOCK COURSE,
6. BOND BEAMS SHALL BE FILLED WITH 3000 PSI CONCRETE.
7. ALL CONCRETE BLOCK SHALL BE LAID AT RUNNING BOND AND INTER GRADED WITH THE PILASTER.
8. PILASTER REINFORCING SHALL BE CONTINUOUS FROM TOP OF WALL TO BOTTOM OF RETAINING
WALL.
