3 A RESOLUTION TO AMEND LITTLE ROCK, ARK., RESOLUTION NO.
4 16,113 (SEPTEMBER 19, 2023), TO CORRECT, CLARIFY AND
5 AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT
6 WITH SYMETRA FINANCIAL AS THE SELECTED PROVIDER FOR
7 HOSPITAL INDEMNITY INSURANCE PROVIDER FOR CITY
8 EMPLOYEES AND THEIR DEPENDENTS FOR THE PERIOD OF
9 JANUARY 1, 2024, TI DECEMBER 31, 2024; AND FOR OTHER
10 PURPOSES.

12 WHEREAS,Resolution No. 16133 (September 19,2023)authorized a contract with Transamerica for
13 Hospital Indemnity Insurance for the City of Little Rock employees and their dependents to include Basic
14 Life,AD&D,LTD,Critical Illness,Voluntary Life and Voluntary AD&D Coverage from January 1,2024,
15 to December 31,2024;and,
16 WHEREAS,this provider designation was in error,the correct provider selected after a market study
17 selection process was Symetra Financial; and,
18 WHEREAS,the City wishes to utilize the product offerings of Symentra Financial for these Hospital
19 Indemnity products;and,
20 WHEREAS, the voluntary benefits for City of Little Rock employees and their dependents and are
21 financed exclusively by the employees at their own expense.
22 NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY
23 OF LITTLE ROCK,ARKANSAS:
24 Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to approve an extension of the contract with Symentra
25 Financial for the period of January 1, 2024, to December 31, 2024, for Hospital Indemnity Insurance
26 products for City employees and their dependents.
27 Section 2. Funding for the voluntary benefits for City of Little Rock employees is solely at the expense
28 of the employee.
29 Section 3. Severability. In the event any title, section, paragraph, item, sentence, clause, phrase, or
30 word of this resolution is declared or adjudged to be invalid or unconstitutional, such declaration or
31 adjudication shall not affect the remaining portions of the resolution which shall remain in full force and
32 effect as if the portion so declared or adjudged invalid or unconstitutional were not originally a part of the
33 resolution.

1 Section 4. Repealer.All laws, ordinances, resolutions, including but not limited to Little Rock,
2 Ark. Resolution No. 16,113 (September 19, 2023), or parts of the same, that are inconsistent with
3 the provisions of this resolution, are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency.
