This property is within the MacArthur Park Local Ordinance Historic District and is subject to all rules and regulations of that district. Please accept this letter as formal notice that construction activity at 514 East 8th Street was also carried out in violation of state law requiring that a Certificate of Appropriateness ("COK) be obtained prior to making alterations to a structure located in a local ordinance historic district. Our records indicate that new roofing shingles were installed without a building permit and Were installed in violation of this COA requirement. This change can be handled administratively by a Certificate of Compliance (COC) that could have been obtained by calling this office prior to re- roofing the structure. To bring your property into compliance with state law, you must obtain a COC from the Little Rock Historic District Commission by filing an application and fulfilling all requirements thereof. One is attached for your convenience. Failure to obtain a COC and a building permit (if applicable) for the new roof will result in referral of this matter to the Zoning Enforcement Division of the City of Little Rock Planning and Development Department for enforcement proceedings in the City of Little Rock Municipal Court. Please call me on my direct line at 371-4789 to get this matter resolved. If I can assist you on getting this property on the next agenda, please let me know. Our filing deadlines are posted on the web and are generally the first Friday of each month. Sincerely, Brian Minyard Historic District Staff
