Markham Street Little Rock, AR 72201 Dear Anne: I am attaching a copy of an application for a building permit for building a new rear stairway at 511 E. 8th Street, Little Rock, Since the property is within the MacArther Historic District I believe I will need a certificate of appropriateness for this. The carpenter I want to use has a window of opportunity to build the stairs on Saturday and Sunday of this weekend. The property is being sold and the closing is due to take place on Tuesday and Wednesday of next week. The owner who lives in Denver is coming for the closing. If I can arrange the permit in time to build this weekend it would be a great help. The old stairs which were weakening were completely removed. They ran in one continuous course up the rear of the building. The new stairs will be stronger and will descend from the second floor to a landing, then reverse and descend to the ground.
