MEMORANDUM
Charles Toland, Permits Administrator (Fax # 6863)
V. Anne Guthrie, Historic Preservation Administrator
6 February 2001
Permit for 1402 Commerce
V
This memo serves as administrative approval from the Little Rock Historic District
Commission (LRHDC) allowing the property owner of 1402 Commerce permission to obtain a
building permit. I understand that the permit is for the construction of a privacy fence, which is
replacing that which was damaged by the 1999 tornado. Since the damaged fence was chain link,
which is not acceptable for the historic district and this location, the proposed fence will be
constructed in conformance to the district's design guidelines. The replacement fence will be a
wooden privacy fence that meets side and rear yard height requirements (i.e., six feet in height).
As such and meeting all city and building regulations, the application for a building permit
should be approved. If additional exterior changes or improvements are made that require a
Certificate of Appropriateness (COA), staff will be notified and appropriate actions taken for a
public hearing. Refer to the application instructions or the Design Review Guidelines:
MacArthur Park Historic District for necessity of obtaining a COA.
