Hi! This Linda Porterfield with Shine Air, the heaƟng and air division of Shine Solar. For the mechanical permit we are
simply replacing the unit in the same locaƟon as the exisƟng unit. How do I acquire a CerƟficate of Appropriateness for
the mechanical install? Regarding the guidelines on page 61 we meet all of the criteria listed. The unit isn’t visible from
the street and is screened in. There will be no window units placed either. I have been trying to get a hold of someone in
regards of this, but have unsuccessfully in reaching anyone to help me. What do I need to do in order to move this
forward?

Good morning Brandyn,
This is a noƟficaƟon regarding an addiƟonal permit request for 1402 S Commerce recently applied for by Shine Solar: #
202319025. A CerƟficate of Appropriateness is also required for mechanical systems for structures in the Local
Ordinance District. Standards and guidelines concerning mechanical systems can be found on page 61 of the MacArthur
Park Design Guidelines. To avoid submiƩed to separate applicaƟons to the LiƩle Rock Historic District Commission, you
may include the HVAC installaƟon within the solar panel applicaƟon. Mechanical systems may be reviewed
administraƟvely if the project meets the below criteria:
Repair or replace unit with unit in same locaƟon as exisƟng.
Eliminate any condenser units and supply/condensate lines that are replaced when visible from the street. Do
not run supply or condensate lines on the exterior of the building.
Place condensing units at the back of the building away from the street view.
In your applicaƟon, please provide the locaƟon and installaƟon informaƟon for the new mechanical equipment.
Thanks,
Hannah Ratzlaff
