The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requests a variance as this LLWAS site
will provide air traffic safety to the Little Rock National Airport. This system
is a federally funded program for the specific jRurpose of improving safety to the
air traffic at designated municipal, regional or international airports.
It is hereby agreed that the required filing fee will be paid immediately after
filing and acceptance of this application, and that the notice to property owners
as well as the posting of the sign furnished, will be accomplished as required.

System (LLWAS)
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requests a height
variance for a 120' pole that will provide Low Level
Windshear Alert to the Little Rock National Airport. This
pole and the 20' x 20' concrete site with security fence is
a part of the National Program upgrade.
Please read the enclosed brochures that briefly explain the
system and its purposes. Additionally, enclosed is the
application fee.
Our proposed site near 1700 E. Second St. is based upon
location guidelines that will accurately detect, identify
and locate wind shear events, including storm microbursts.
We request that the City of Little Rock grant a height
variance for this FAA air traffic safety program and
proposed LLWAS site.

SUBJECT: Low Level Windshear Alert System on Second Street

The Parks and Recreation Department has reviewed FAA's proposal for a low level
windshear alert system on Second Street.
We prefer the location to be further into the site towards the river, if that doesn't weaken
their ability to detect windshears. Specifically, we would prefer the southwest corner of
the 20' by 20' enclosure to be as close to the southeast corner of the FOP building. This
will reduce some of the visual impact of the structure.
The Game and Fish Commission is exploring with us the possibility of marine access at the
newly acquired park property (Dempsey project). If this or any development related to
the Presidential Library came about, then this structure will have opportunities to be
screened.
We appreciate the opportunity to address this project. If you have any questions or want

Little Rock, Arkansas_
Additionally, please read the enclosed PAA brochure that explains what
is a Low Level Windshear Alert System (LLWAS). The Federal Government
would like to build a site in your neighborhood- It is a site that
will provide safety warning to the Little Rock National Airport.
Your cooperation would be appreciated, because it will help make air
travel safer for those flying into Little Rock.
