HomeMy WebLinkAboutZ-6551-A Map 7PROJECT REQUIREMENTS 8 OUTLINE SPECIFICATIONS GENERAL REQUIREMENTS: A Sprint PCS will issue separate documents for conditions of the Contract h General Construction Specifications. B. These Outline Specifications and Contract Drawings amend the General Construction Specifications where not in conflict. SUPPLEMENTARY REQUIREMENTS k OUTLINE SPECIFICATIONS: A. These outline Specifications determine the nature setting, workmanship, and quality of materials; the drawings establish the design, quantities, dimensions, details, schedules and give the locations. 1. The drawings show the work to be completed, but the Contractor shall be solely responsible for taking his own measurements and installing his work to fit the conditions encountered. 2. The contract drawings indicate the extent and general arrangement of the various systems. If any departures from the Contract Drawings are deemed necessary by the Contractor, details of such departures and the reasons therefore shall be submitted as soon as practicable to Sprint PCS for approval. No such departures shall be made without written approval from Sprint PCS. 3. Should the drawings disagree in themselves or with the Specifications, the better quality or greater quantity of work or materials shall be estimated upon and, unless otherwise ordered by Sprint PCS in writing, shall be performed and furnished. Figures given on drawings govern scale measurements and large scale drawings govern small scale drawings. Any discrepancies found during construction shall be reported to Sprint PCS immediately. B. Construction permits shall be obtained and paid for by the Sprint PCS, but Contractor shall call in any and all inspections. C. The undertaking of period inspections by the Architect and/or Engineer shall not be construed as supervision of actual construction nor make him responsible for providing a safe place for the performance of work by Contractors or Contractors employees or by employees or for access, visits, use, work, travel or occupancy by any person. SUMMARY OF WORK: A Work covered by Contract Documents: Work includes the installation of equipment pad or platform, roof work if required, installation of cable supports, installation of antennas, RFFE's, cabling and power to and from all devices an and related electrical and mechanical work as described in the contract drawings and specifications. B. Work by Others: Sprint PCS will make separate contracts for furnishing and installing the following: PROTECTION: A Protect finishes, equipment and adjacent work from damage caused by grading, cutting, removal and patching operations. Protect surfaces that will remain a part of the finished work. Protect existing facilities and features within designated construction limits. Cover damage from products delivery and construction operations. After materials and equipment are installed, properly protect Work until final acceptance. Contractor shall repair all damage resulting from construction operations without cost to Sprint PCS or Landowner and/or Building Owner. QUUITY CONTROL A Quality Control General 1. Maintain quality control over suppliers, manufacturers, products, services, site conditions, and workmanship, to produce work of specified quality. B. Workmanship 1. Comply with industry standards for commercial construction except when more restrictive tolerance or specified requirements indicate more rigid standards or more precise workmanship. 2. Perform work by persons qualified to protect workmanship of specified quality. 3. Secure products in place with positive anchorage devices designed and sized to withstand stresses, vibrations, and rocking. C. Manufacturer's Instructions 1. Comply with instructions in full detail, including each step in sequence. Should instructions conflict with Contract Documents, request clarification from Sprint PCS before proceeding. TESTING k LABORATORY SERVICES: A General 1, Sprint PCS may employ and pay for services of an Independent Testing Laboratory to perform testing of moterials and construction. Contractor shall cooperate with laboratory to facilitate execution of required -- services. 2. Employment of laboratory shall in no way relieve Contractor's obligations to perform the work of the �_- Contract. 1. Transmitting equipment. MATERIAL AND EOtfIPM04Fc C. TEMPORARY WATER: C. Hoist into place and install. A Furnish and maintain temporary water required for completion of Work including means of conveyance. d. Protect products from damage. B. Pay for connections, top fees, metering and extensions from sources, where required. e. Provide mechanical and electrical connections. C. Pay charges for water. CONTRACTOR'S USE OF PREMISES: A Confine operations at site to areas permitted by law, ordinances, permits and to limits of contract as shown on Contract Documents. Do not unreasonably encumber site with materials or equipment. Do not load structure with weight that will endanger the structure. Assume full responsibility for protection and safekeeping of products stored on premises. Move stored products that interfere with operations of the Building. Obtain and pay for use of additional storage or work areas needed for operations. B. Coordinate use of premises under Provisions of Lease Agreement. Obtain copy for Sprint PCS. C. Limit use of site for work, and storage as follows: 1. Restrict work and storage to areas indicated on Drawings. 2. Access site in areas approved by Landowner or Building Management. 3. Restrict panting to areas designated by Landowner or Building Management. 4. Maintain building occupant and public access at all times to building, panting, drives, and walks. 5. Delivery of building materials and equipment to building and use of stairs and/or elevator for conveying materials and equipment to the leased premises to be approved by Building Management. 6. Contractor to coordinate with Building Management when working in existing building spaces. All existing finishes must be protected. Replace any finishes damaged. Match existing. 7. Contractor to meet with Building Management and obtain approval before beginning work on any portion of the project. ALTERATIONS PROJECT PROCEDURES: A Patching 1. In areas where any portion of an existing finished surface is damaged, lifted, stained, or otherwise made or found to be imperfect, patch or replace the imperfect portion of the surface with matching material. 2. Provide adequate support or substrate for patching. B. Quality: 1. In the Sections of the product sand execution Specifications which follow these General Requirements, no concerted attempt has been mode to describe each of the various existing products that must be used to patch, match, extend, or replace existing wont. Obtain all such products in time to complete the work on schedule. Such products shall be provided in quality, which is no way inferior to the existing products. 2. The quality of the products that exist in the building, as apparent during Pre-bid site visits, shall serve as the Specification requirement of strength, appearance, and other characteristics. C. Transitions: 1. Where new work abuts or finishes flush with existing work, make the transition as smooth and workmanlike as possible. Patched work shall match existing adjacent work in texture and appearance so as to make the patch or transition invisible to the eye at a distance of 3 feet. D. Matching: 1. Restore existing work that is damaged during construction to a condition equal to its condition at the time of the start of the work. E. Repair: 1. Replace work damaged in the course of alterations, except at areas approved by Sprint PCS for repair. 2. If the repaired work is not brought up to the standard for new work, Sprint PCS will direct that R be cut out and replaced with new work. F. Cutting: 1. Cutting and removal work shall be performed so as not to cut or remove more than is necessary and so as not to damage adjacent work. 2. Conduct work in such o manner as to minimize noise and to minimize accumulation and spread of din and dust. BUILDING OCCUPANCY: A. Lessor will occupy areas adjoining the work area during the entire period of construction for the conduct of Tenant's normal, daily operations. Cooperate with Landowner and/or Building Owner's Representative in all construction operations to minimize conflict and to facilitate Lessor usage. Contractor shall conduct his operations as to ensure least inconvenience to Lessors operations. Contractor shall take precautions to ovoid excessive noise or vibrations that would disturb Lessors operations. TEMPORARY ELECTRICAL ENERGY: A Where necessary for construction, furnish and maintain temporary electrical service for power and lighting as required for completion of the Work. B. Pay for connections, metering and extensions from sources. C. Pay energy charges for temporary power. GUARDRAILS. BARRICADES AND TEMPORARY COVERINGS: A Provide guardrails and handrails in accordance with applicable Safety Laws. B. Provide barricades as required to protect existing site features, existing buildings, adjacent property and passersby. STORAGE: A All mote6ols must be stored in a level and dry fashion and in a manner that does not necessarily obstruct the flow of other work. Dry storage method must meet all recommendations of the associated manufacturer. PROTECTION OF PERSONS AND PROPERTY: A The Contractor shall be responsible for initiating, maintaining, and supervising all safety precautions and programs in connection with the performance of the Contract. B. The Contractor shall take reasonable precautions for safety of, and shall provide reasonable protection to prevent damage, injury or lass to employees on the Wont and other persons who may be affected thereby, the Work and materials and equipment to be incorporated therein: and other property at the site or adjacent thereto. C. The Contractor shall give notices and comply with applicable laws, ordinances, rules, regulations and lawful orders of public authorities bearing on safety of persons and property and their protection from damage, injury or loss. The Contractor shall promptly remedy damage and loss to property at the site caused in whole or in pan by the Contractor, a Subcontractor, a Sub -Subcontractor, or anyone directly or indirectly employed by any of them, or by anyone for whose acts they may be liable and for which the Contractor is responsible. D. The Contractor shall not be required to perform without consent any Work relating to asbestos or polychlorinated biphenyl, (PCB) SHOP DRAWINGS: A Contractor to submit shop drawings and product data as required and listed in these specifications to Sprint PCS for approval. B. All shop drawings to be reviewed, checked, corrected and stamped by Contractor prior to submittal to Sprint PCS. PRODUCTS AND SUBSTITUTIONS: A Submit 3 copies of each request for substitution to Sprint PCS. In each request, identify the product or fabrication or installation method to be replaced by the substitution. Includes numbers and complete documentation showing compliance with the requirements for substitution. B. Include all necessary product data and cut sheets which properly indicates and describes the items, products and materials being installed. The Contractor shall, if deemed necessary by Sprint PCS, submit actual samples to Sprint PCS for approval in lieu of cut sheets. METAL FABRICATION: A Miscellaneous Carbon Steel and Iron: Fabrication of ASTM A36 steel plates and shapes, hot -dip galvanized after fabrication. B. Submit Shop Drawings and product in accordance with Section D1340. Indicate plan and section of stairs, dimensions and assembly of all components. C. Verify dimensions and components at site as may be necessary to ensure that work matches and fits actual conditions. Insofar as practical, shop fit and assemble metal items for erection and installation. Assemble with as few joints as possible. D. All bolts, fasteners, anchor bolts, nuts and washers to be hot -dip galvanized. E. All components to be shop fabricated and primed to minimize amount of on-site work required, All wells to be ground smooth. Touchup primer after installation before applying final finish coat. �fRUC7Uft/��TFEL; A. Structural steel to conform to AISC, 'Code of Standard Practice'. B. Submit Shop Drawings for approval by Sprint PCS and structural engineer. C. Materials 1. All Structural Sted to be hot dipped galvanized after fabrication. 2. Structural Steel Shapes, Plates and Bars: ASTM A36. 3. Cold Formed Stee' Tubing ASTM A500, Grade B. 4. Steel Pipe: ASTM A53, TYPE E or S. Grade B. 5. Anchor bolts: ASTM, A307, non -headed type unless otherwise indicated. 6. High -Strength Threaded Fasteners: Heavy hexagon structural bolts, heavy hexagon nuts. a. Quenched and tempered medium -carbon steel bolts, nuts and washers, complying with ASTM A325. b. Direct tension indicator washer may be used at Controctorts option. 7. Electrodes for Welding: comply with AWS Code, E70. D. Temporary Sharing and Bracing: Provide temporary sharing and bracing members with connections of sufficient strength to bear imposed loads. Remove temporary members and connections when permanent members are in place and final connections are made. Provide temporary guy line to achieve proper dlignment of structures as erection proceeds. E. lieu Assembly: Set structural frames accurately to lines and elevations indicated. Align and adjust various members forming part of complete frame or structure before permanently fastening. Clean bearing surfaces and other surfaces which will be in permanent contact before assembly. Perform necessary adjustments to compensate for discrepancies in elevations and alignment. WATERPRODFING: A General: Furnish and install all necessary reinforced membrane material to property seal new construction. Verify with building management if existing roofing system has manufacturer's warranty in effect N so, contact manufacturer for a list of approved roofing subcontractors who may perform work and maintain warranty. Use only approved roofing Contractors in order to maintain warranty. Meet or exceed existing building waterproofing system requirements for roof penetrations. B. Waterproofing at all vetical services altered cut, replaced by requirements of the new construction. G Ins" the waterproofing only to clean and dry materials free of debris and loose material. Install per manufacturer's recomaendations. THERMAL AND MOISTURE PROTECTION• A FLASHING SHEET METAL 1. Sheet metal flashing and other accessories shall be galvanized steel, 22 gauge, fabricated and installed in accordance with applicable SMACKA published standards. SAA J Sealant to be one or two pan polyurethane chemical sealant with a Shore A hardness between 20 and 30 after 7 days cure. Class A non -sag, of manufacturer's standard colors selected by the Engineer, equal to Pecora Dynotrol I or II. Furnish necessary non -staining impregnated joint filter and sealant manufacturers joint primer. B. seal joints at perimeter between sleeve and pipe, conduit, etc., penetrations of wolls, flashing connections and as indicated with a sealant. Pack all joints to within 3/8' and of joint filer and prime porous pealont contact surfaces with joint primer. C. Apply sealant only to dean dry surfaces and when temperature is above 49F. Apply per manufacturer's recommendations. Hold face of sealant approximately 1/8' behind face of adjacent metal fromes and produce joints with uniform surfaces and straight edges. Do not touch sealed joints, wash or otherwise disturb, allowing sealant to cure until it is firm and rubbery. ROUGH GARP NEY A Carefully remove existing roof constructions required for new construction. Take necessary precautions to prevent damage to membranes adjacent to affected area. 8. Materials 1. Board Lumber: When lumber 2' or less in nominal thickness is shown or specified provide the following: Douglas it (WWPA) No. 2 boards, 19% moisture content. 2. Plywood: Backer sheathing to be b/c exterior grade APA 3/4' thick. 3. Wood Treatment: Where pressure treated wood is specified use s-tt-w-571 using waterbome preservative with 030 percent retainage. C. Install new wood construction to match existing. Frame all new openings with headers and trimmers. Double headers and trimmers where soon exceeds 4'. Support with metal joist hangers. D.
